We visited Junius Lindsay Vineyard the last weekend in February and had a very pleasant experience. It was nice that the pourer, the Manager, and the owner were all there. We learned quite a bit about the history and that the name was a family name with the dog also being named Lindsay. The dog pays attention to you at first and then leaves you alone. They had really nice, well maintained plastic up to keep the cold out and space heaters to keep you warm. We think this would be a nice visit in better weather. Cynda was so hospitable! The wines are very good. More the French Rhone variety and a pleasurable difference from the rest in the area. Only one of us was a red dryer wine person and so it can be difficult for those looking for something sweeter. This winery is too easy to miss but you should make an effort to visit.
I liked how this winery was set up; different than the most. It had a outdoor feeling to it and great staff serving wine. It was very quiet. I bought one bottle and one for a friend.
We had a great time and the wine was wonderful. The only issue we had is that the giant dog who frequents the vineyard scared my kids, and the owners sort of blamed the kids for getting the dog excited. I will have to wait for the kids to get older to go back.
Junius Lindsay was one of the stops on my birthday weekend tour of Lexington Wineries with my family. Upon pulling up, we noticed the sides were open and the breeze could blow through... I knew it was going to be amazing!! Then we were greeted by Lindsay their dog. Totally harmless and sweet part of the "welcome wagon!" We are parents of a five month old. I had her in a baby-wearing device and walked up. Sometimes they give you odd faces at those places but not them! They were BEYOND warm and welcoming to have her along! There are two different tastings you can do. If you are with someone else, I recommend doing a reidel tasting a regular. You get two different glasses and make sure they tell you about it affects the smell in the different glasses! We enjoyed many of them! My dad bought a bottle of the reserve and we got one of the bottles of the white called second leaf! I highly recommend stopping here. The owners were fabulous and the woman pouring named Cynda was an absolute delight. There are tables there if you wanted to pack a lunch and bands that do perform there!! Enjoy this little gem!!
I loved this place!! It's not too far back, but was small and charming. It's nothing fancy, but that's what I liked about it. The owners were incredible and so amazing, and their port wine was so awesome. I will definitely be back when I come back to the area
This is one of those tucked away little vineyards you don't want to miss! I went while vineyard hopping through the Lexington area. Since I frequent the winery scene, I have expectations for quality wine and a knowledgable bartender. I was so impressed with the staff, and the scenery is beautiful. It is truly worth the drive, and a great place to sit in a rocking chair on a summer afternoon!
Such a great staff, and beautiful scenery. Highly recommended for a dinner party or reception. We will definitely be back!
We have visited Junius Lindsay Vineyards several times over the past four years and have never been disappointed. They have good local wines, both red and white. They produce their wines in the Rhone River style and have a killer Syrah and Petite Syrah. We also like some of their whites. Periodically they have music events on their pavilion which often include music, food and of course wine for sale by the bottle or glass. We have gone over and helped them pick grapes during the harvest but I do not know if they are doing that any more. If you like good wine and meeting nice people you must visit Lunius Lindsay Vineyards. We will be going back again soon!!
Good wines. Haven't been there since about 2009 though. We arrived early-- about an hour before opening . Most other vineyards had already opened. Sadly we were told to come back. It took us another few months to do so.
So incredible....chilled Second Leaf and Metro..cannot go wrong, Big red wine drinkers, but Second Leaf such incredible white. Would have never thought would like red chilled....but with syrah and petit syrah with a bit if residual.....unbelieveable....Now two of our favorite summer wines!
