AJ State Park and the Museum there are really nice. The park is so relaxed, well kept, and beautiful...the Museum isn't huge but it's well done... If you get a chance to talk to Laura, the park Ranger there, do so....she is a wealth of historical information and she really knows her stuff and loves to share her knowledge. Take a picnic lunch...walk around the lake....See the museum and Memorial..... You won't be sorry you stopped.

It not the biggest Museum I have been in, but it does enough to keep you interested. They do have outdoor buildings to explore. It is really cool when they have the reenactments there.

Many interesting programs and events; including gold-panning,lecture series, heritage gardening and period home sites scattered around the property and exhibits about Andrew Jackson and the Waxhaw Indians. Sadly, it is only open on the week ends. All ages would enjoy this museum.

The outdoor theater associated with the museum is worth it. The museum itself is pretty small. You might want to look at the Andrew Jackson State Park for better items.

Nice museum and friendly people!!!! Make sure you know the hours though. It is only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Visited here several times including some camping trips. Nice little lake with nature trail, small, tree shaded campground, great little museum with amphitheater, sculpture of Andrew hisself and pic-a-nic shelters. Public funds well spent.

Nice Museum and Village. Our docent was very knowledgeable about the history of the region. Many Scots-Irish settled in this area during the Revolutionary Period. Museum has a nice display and gift shop. Docent in period costume takes you down to the village (Just a short walk) and shows you around. Museum has restrooms and handicap excess but the village is soft ground.

We had a great experience watching hands on costumed volunteers live as folks lived 150 years ago, Blacksmith was very interesting to 2012 kids as was other exibits. A must for newcomers to the Carolinas.

You have to see the amount of work the volunteers for the Memorial and Museum have done! We were there about 8 years ago, and it was dinky, but now it's really got some good displays, and when they have one of their specials, you learn all about the local industries of the past, and something about gold mining, how people lived way back when... a nice family place to see.

Very well done museum. Went with a group from Camden of amateur historians. Enjoyed the exhibits and the staff was very knowledgeable!

Great staff and well maintained historic museum. All of the people I met were very well versed in the subject matter. I plan of visiting again soon!

I'm a social history/small town museum/period costume lovin' sort of tourist from Nevada, so this lovely museum and self-guided grounds tour was right up my alley. Folks with mobility issues may not be able to access all of the outbuildings, but my three young travel companions enjoyed the easy walk of the grounds, including the trek through the woods to the Native Village and small cemetery. This was the only historical site near us open on a Sunday (2-5p), we arrived about 3:30 and had plenty of time to watch the short film, explore the museum, chat with the lovely folks in charge, and see the grounds. Great low-key setting won't overwhelm families traveling with young kids or grandparents, perfect if the kids need to spread for a sibling break as it's spacious but not too spread out, and also a nice picnic spot.
