We've been to this place twice now to rent kayaks. Both times we've enjoyed our river experience. This company knows what they're doing. They are able to handle high volumes of people getting into and out of the river and they do it very efficiently. As for the other river explorers, be prepared to deal with intoxicated, crazy, irresponsible knuckle heads all day.

Whitewater Canoe has 2-3 locations along the river. We camped at the Southern most location. Their camping sites are very big and some are along the river. The sites have electricity but no water. There are two restrooms for the campsite and only one of the restroom locations has a shower. This is not the place to camp if you would like to get to sleep before 3am. It's private property and the campers are allowed to be as loud & obnoxious as they care to be until they pass out. We bought ear plugs for our second night there so we could get to sleep at a decent hour. Both nights, campers all around us played music and yelled at their buddies until 3am. Would not suggest this campground for families .

What A Gem, located in Brookville, Indiana. Some of the most courteous folks own and operate an "adventure" only a short distance east of well-known Metamora, Indiana, and it's less that 30 minutes off the interstate in Indiana's scenic southeast corner. With options of kayaks, rafts, or canoes, with floats of 8 or 13 miles long (yes, WITH the river's current), this is a destination for families and friends, dads and sons (yepper!),couples who want to spend a few hours talking, or groups of folks who simply want to relax, work a little physically, wave to people on the banks as they fish or relax next to campsites, and enjoy watching nature glide by. On our trip, it was a "quiet' float as the Whitewater River was running "about normal" for our 13 mile experience (as well as with laughter as others floated by or we paddled past them or pulled up on a sandy shore to stretch and enjoy a sandwich and bottle of water. For only $20 per person (cash or charge card), this was worth every nickel as the scenery was fantastic under a slightly overcast day with cool temps. I'm guessing that this could have been a tougher float if the sun had been hotter (NO shelter in the middle of a river) and no cool breezes were blowing. The hosts predicted 4 to 4 1/2 hours for the 13 miles we envisioned doing, and they hit it right on the button. We also heard it can take longer depending on how many times folks stop along shore or mid-river sandbars, but that's up to other floaters to decide. We'll be back...there's no limit to how the views may change or the river may be flowing. There's virtually NO delay except to be greeted by friendly staff, sign waiver forms, pay, collect the stuff from your car you want to take along, don a lifejacket, grab a couple of paddles, and literally step into the nearby river after someone brings you your kayak or canoe. It's a rustic facility in all regards, but it works, it's efficient, and best of all, it's the access point to the river and hours of relaxing. .
