johnson county museum of history

Moved away about 30 years ago. Love to visit the museum when i come for a visit to Franklin. I always learn something new. And the Genealogy Dept. is excellent. Everyone is friendly and very helpful.

In a historic Mason's hall it is absolutely beautiful and the Architecture fantastic! The museum has some excellent display as you travel through time from past to present of Johnson County through each magnificent room.

This is a good museum for a smaller county and they have worked over the last few years to make it even better. It's worth a trip, but not a destination - unless you also visit the Willard and Artcraft down the street.

There is a special display of hats by the woman that made them. While there we looked at other displays and they were very interesting. I found a book written by a lady about our town and bought it. Lots of interesting displays and there is a genelogy department in the basement.

The county museum is in a beautiful buildling that most local residents just pass by. They're missing an interesting look at the history of our county. The genealogy section is also well known.
