Used to be a huge fan of this place, but it has lost its charm for me. This orchard went and got too big and now the consumers have to pay for it. Everything is over priced and usually is too crowded during the times of the year you want to be there to enjoy anything. There are many other smaller farms that have events in NWI to take the kids to. Ones that are moderately priced and offer just as much.

This is a great place to spend time together, enjoy fall and have fun. There is alot to do for all ages. There is a "moo choo" (cow) train ride through the trees and the orchard. Very fun! There are hay rides, pick your own apples, corn maze, even a couple play areas for kids of different ages where they can play with farm toys and even a childrens "hay maze". Our grandson loves that! When you get hungry, go inside the big barn and get a snack. I recommend the fresh cinnamon donuts, apple cider and I always take home a piece of homemade pie and even a 1/2 doz. donuts to have for the next day!. Yum! They have food too though, soup, hot dogs, etc. The weekends get really busy, so go early or during the weekday if you can.

County Line Orchard has many activities for younger children. Very good donuts. A bit pricey but worth it. Very crowded on weekends so get there early.

Great place to visit for a day of fun. Pick apples from the trees, eat in the barn, travel the corn maze let the kids ride the moo train and enjoy thr petting zoo. An amazing day for the entire family. Don't forget to visit the big barn for pies, fudge Apple cider and many other delicious treats.

The County Line Orchard is a great place to come with your family. Everything seems pretty well organized and it is a nice respite from the busy surroundings. The only negative I had was that the food service was poor and they really need to improve the menu and quality of their lunch service. However, I really enjoyed the rest. The orchard is great and my kids really enjoyed the petting zoo.

During the apple season this is a happening place. You have to try the donuts...delicious! There things for kids and families. Friendly staff and customer service.

I agree w/some of the other reviewer's synopsis. It's a great, fun place close to Chicago, but WAY TOO commercial. I live nearby, and I'll tell you do NOT go during prime hours on a Sat. or Sun. GO at 9/10 AM, and get out by 1! Parking is across the street and can be a long walk if you have little ones. I, too, have been going here for about 20 years, and remember when Mr. McAfee owned it. He lived on the grounds and it was quaint, homey. He stood out there in his suspenders and loved to greet the children and joke around. Now it's VERY commercial. I mean really ... they need to charge $1 to get bags and go on a tractor into the field. You cannot go pick unless you pay the $1. They make enough on the food, apples, etc. anyway. The donuts ARE to die for, absolutely delicious. There is anything and everything in the store that you can think of to buy ... kettle corn, fudge, pies, trinkets, décor, bagged apples, candy, toys, salsa, honey, etc., but nothing is cheap. Quite pricey. They have petting zoo, food vendors on weekends. There's a gorgeous huge barn w/all the goodies to purchase. It is a fun place and a nice treat, but again get there early and bring your loaded wallet!

I used to love this place when it was simple, small, and affordable. When everyone didn't come here and it wasn't overcrowded with strollers, irritating 'Helicopter Mommies and Daddies' who think THEIR kids are the cutest, and most precious little special snowflakes in the land of magic apples.I might sound a bit jaded-but I just can't stand to take my children to this place anymore. It's not fun at all. The corn maize is gross, the orchard isn't organic, the captive fat goats are greedy, the big orange mechanic what-ever-it-is is weird, and the patrons are THE WORST. I like people-but I don't like people when I arrive here. Do you know what I mean?

Less than an hour drive from Chicago. There are 4 different admissions to pick from that range from $1-$10 per person. We did general admission $1 each which gave us access to: U-Pick, Tractor Rides, Picnic area, and apple picking bags. The other admissions were geared more towards families with children. My boyfriend and I had a perfect fall date, we picked apples, picked out a pumpkin, took a tractor ride, and got amazing pictures.

As a local who craves their apple doughnuts every year I'm more than familiar with how they use to be versus how they are now. Pros: sometimes decent doughnuts, fun activities and zooCons: too commercialized now, no fresh and crispy doughnuts anymore because they make thousands of them beforehand and they sit there for who knows how long and they're soggy and wet by the time you get them, over crowded, parking is horrendous to say the least, have to stupidly pay general admission just to enter the fields, now you have to pay if you want to take the tractor to the fields, zoo extra too, none of which you had to pay for in the past until they over built the place, apple prices are ridiculous enough then add in all those extra fees and you're better off going to the grocery store. I use to go quite often and almost every week for donuts but they're lucky if I go at all anymore. If you're not familiar with the way it use to be then you'd probably like it. If you compare it now to several years ago them not so much.

I had visited County Line Orchard back in 2003. It was ok back then, but very tourist-oriented. They have become much more of a tourist trap since then. Your satisfaction will depend on what you are looking for. If you were hoping to hit a family-owned, u-pick orchard with reasonably-priced apples and have an away-from-the-crowd experience, this is not it. (Sorry, but I have not desire to return.)On the positive side, they are very friendly and have several theme corn mazes that are interesting. Many people obviously enjoy visiting it -- there were several hundred cars when we were there -- so you might too.As the main negative, everything seems to be set up to separate you from as much money as possible. You even pay to walk into the orchard (general admission), unlike any other u-pick orchard I've ever visited.Note: most of the apple varieties are gone by mid-October. Visiting in September is probably more interesting in terms of apple variety available.

Located in Hobart In. Lots of things to do for the kids. Apple picking, small train for rides, tons of pumpkins, bakery, fudge, caramel apples, retro candy. Worth a trip if you're in the area. Come early as it gets very crowded early in the day.

We had so much fun walking among the apple trees checking out the many kinds of apples. We tasted a few, (not sure if that was allowed) to help decide which ones to pick and purchase. Who knew there were so many different varieties. We chose the Jonagold Apple, a large sweet crisp apple with a hint of sourness. Yummy!! There is a $1.00 fee to ride the wagon to pick apples. We also paid about $5.00 to go through the two corn mazes. Not too exciting as the trails were a little destroyed and difficult to navigate. It was definitely worth the hour drive from Chicago. We arrived around three pm on a Saturday. It was a short wait to park and the longest line was to the women's restroom. The pumpkin patch and sunflower fields made for some great photos. $1.89 per pound for the apples was reasonable. The apple flavored donuts and pumpkin iced donuts were delicious. Eat them warm and take some home.

This place is great! Lots of things to do besides pick apples. The moo Choo train is great for the kids. The band that plays is very appropriate for families. They have a maze and a petting farm. So many apples to choose from. Don't forget to grab some goodies on your way out. The pumpkin donuts are the best donuts you will ever eat. This place is a great destination for anyone. They also have a Facebook page and they have giveaways on it. They also had an angel day where everyone with a special need got in free for that day. Which is an awsome thing. I love this place gets better every year

If you are looking for something different to do, apple picking is a fun change of pace. However, here you will spend more time waiting for parking, waiting in line, waiting to leave the parking lot, than you will be picking apples. Pumpkin and apple dougnuts are delicious! We enjoyed the day but will not be back. Things were expensive there.
