My boys really enjoyed looking around the Nature Center and playing outside on the oversize nest and maze!
We have taken a few field trips out there with our homeschool group and love how much care the rangers give to both our children and the animals in their care. The education given was on level and they kept all the children's interest. Its a small place but over all enjoyable and you can't beat the price of admission - free!
Found this place through TripAdvisor and I'm glad we did! It's completely free minus the gift shop items. They have a nice set up of different live and stuffed animals inside and outside. The prairie dogs were my daughter's favorites, since they have clear tubes they can run through and you can watch them. There is a cute little playground area outside with a sandbox, bird watching station, duck maze and some picnic tables. Also some trails that run along the water with information stations along the way. The only reason I marked it down was because the size of the enclosures for the animals outside. They seemed small and pretty bare. A bald eagle should have much more room to fly, in my opinion. We had a great time and plan on returning.
There was a lot to look at, lots of animals, but the smell was very strong the day we were there. The kids loved it.
Very educational and fun for all ages. This is a free center with interactive activities and was rated as "the best field trip ever" by my granddaughter when it was their third grade field trip for Marlatt Elementary School Students from Manhattan,Kansasl Lots of exhibits and a fun place to take family. From the outside animal exhibits to the "Fur real" experience. A fun place to spend a couple of hours. they also have the Butterly Exhibit in the spring and of course, the Fish Hatchery is lots of fun to watch and hear about the "egg laying and the birth of fish" Very informative for all ages.
It is a great way to take teach the kids about local wildlife. It isn't too big but fun and educational for the family.
Up close and got to participate in the feedings. When I was young it was about getting out of school but as I grew older I learned a lot. Can't wait for my kiddo's first visit. Free!
The nature trail and the fish hatchery where ok for the fact that is free but the caches for all the animals where way to small. They used lots of space for stuffed, dead animals that could make beautifully catches for the living ones!! Didn't liked it at all!! To teach children something about trees and planets its ok but anything else was really poor especially for the animals :'(
