Looking for a museum in the Beloit area on the last day of our vacation. Checked out their website and called their number. We drive there expecting a nice day at a museum. After parking and walking up to their doors we saw a sign that they were closed for at least two weeks. This is information that should have been on their website and phone message so people don't waste their time. We were very disappointed.
If you enjoy small museums with vast collections, this silent building nestled in the Beloit College campus is just the thing. Housing an amazing set of artifacts on the main floor and educational displays on the upper floor, the Logan Museum of Anthropology is one of my teenage daughter's favorite places to visit again and again. It won't likely appeal to the under seven group and is geared more at those who enjoy quiet and subdued environments.
The Museum is really for students, but it takes quite a bit of time to take in the collection, even though the space is not large. Definitely worth a few hours.
Did not think a small college would have such a wonderful museum. Liked the artifacts that were on display, and being able to see the museum without many people crowding around.
Such a wonderful, varied collection of artifacts! There is a standing collection of Native American artifacts with a rotating collection upstairs
On the Beloit College Campus. While not very large, the artifacts are unique and well displayed. The entire museum can be seen in approximately 15 minutes. RIght outside are several indian mounds to also see. While it is not a destination point, if passing by or visiting the area, it is worth a stop and see.
I'm sure some would really like this place, but I was bored. They have hundreds of thousands of pieces, mostly alike.
This is the first place I have ever been that has most of its materials visible to the public. It has a large glass box that houses much of the collections so you can see more of the variety and depth of the collection without having to get special access. Very cool.
