ehlers general store

We had to visit cornucopia just to say we were there. The post office and ehlers were the highlights.The storefront was nostalgic. There was a potted cherry tomato plant mixed with flowers. The merchandise included kids toys, artsy humorous postcards, t shirts and hats, organic beauty care, Nordic looking houseware, organic produce, natural ethnic pre-made packaged food. Not sure who shops here except those on vacation. Excluding price, it has personality indeed.

As a vintage building and photo op this is a good stop, otherwise agree with reviewer that the staff is icey, could care less about who walks in or give any notice to customers. I dont buy anything anywhere without appropriately cordial services so passed up what otherwise would have gone home as local souveniers.

I'm a local, and while Ehlers is a bit more expensive than a big-box grocery store, it's pretty fantastic store to have in our community. Not only can I pick up groceries for supper, but I can find almost any hardware item or household doo-dad that I need and don't want to drive 45 minutes to find elsewhere. Birthday present, bottle of wine, organic produce from local farms, decent meat, chips, chocolate--I stop there a few times a week and enjoy every experience. It's down-home, extremely friendly, comfortable, and not a rip-off. I'm not loaded, and I will pick up groceries in a bigger town when I get the chance, but I wouldn't give up my Ehlers!

We have been visiting Cornucopia for years. The only grocery store for miles is Ehlers. Their prices are outrageous!! That's bad,enough but the people that work there are very rude!! I have never had a good experience. We have learned over the years to bring the majority of our food with us. We would go broke if we didn't. I feel they take advantage of tourists.
