Beautiful old lighthouse on a bluff overlooking the bay and lake. Great docents to provide a tour through the lighthouse and describe life during the time it was active in the late 1800s. An older gentleman who grew up i the lighthouse, provided the staff with many memories and advice to furnish the house as it was in it's heyday. This made the tour very interesting and realistic.
It was a great little stop where you can get some nice pictures of lighthouse and Green Bay, but it is not super amazing.
The true life history of this beautifully and originally restored light house was worth the visit and the minimal fee. The docents are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Ours was a retired teacher and excellent with children. When the light house was commissioned to be restored, a young boy from one of the original photos, now a grown elderly man, personally guided the restoration of artifacts and told the real stories and intimate details about the history not only for of the contents of the home, but living conditions of being a keeper in the area, day to day life, social status and social activities and government rules and regulations! What fun it was to hear of days gone being told in a way that made it seem like you were almost part of the experience!
Beautiful view and very interesting story of the Lighthouse. The last living relative was able to give first hand stories about the Lighthouse. I couldn't believe that 7 boys actually slept in one room!
If you are Peninsula State Park, you can stop by the lighthouse but plan to pay $7 per person for the guided tour to hear anything about it or to go inside (which we did not).
Neat light house, well preserved with interesting history. Our son enjoyed learning about the people who had lived there throughout the years and what life must have been like for them in such an isolated region
this was one of the more interesting Light Houses historically. the guide was extremely knowledgeable and the location was a bit unique. It was built on a cliff and therefore the lighthouse wasn't that tall. The story about the inhabitants was amazing. there were 9 people in the family....I won't ruin the rest of the story for you. This lighthouse is located in Peninsula Park, also the Eagle Tower is here.
The setting of this lighthouse is beautiful and worth the trip but I was disappointed that there was an additional fee to tour the lighthouse.
We toured the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse as part of a trolley tour. The docents were very knowledgeable in telling us the importance of the lighthouse and the stories about the keeper's family. It was a great way to learn more local history.
Five older family members hoped to tour Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. This was our main purpose in visiting Peninsula State Park and paying the entrance fee. But, when we tried to visit the lighthouse, we were turned away and told that it would close to 1.5 hours before they would allow us to visit as they were waiting for a large tour bus that had priority. So we left as some of our family members had difficulty walking to do much else in the park.
We have been to many lighthouses, and found this one to be very nicely restored and filled with beautiful antiques. The tour is well worth it and gives you a good idea of what being a lightkeeper was like. Highly recommend!
We had rented bikes at the park entrance and came upon the lighthouse on our ride through the park trails. Stopped to go in and took the tour. Well worth it for the bay view and lighthouse keeper history. Docent was very knowledgable and friendly. Stairway up to the top is steep.
This might be another great spot to visit during less crowded times. The grounds were so crowded with people just wanting photos with the water as a backdrop and few that were actually interested in the lighthouse/tour. However, it made for a nice small tour group which is nice when going through the house and up the tower.
This is a beautiful scenic historical stop that is a must see when you are at Peninsula State Park. I definitely recommend taking the tour as the tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable and allowed and answered questions. Gives you great insight into the history of this place and what life was like for light keepers and their families and what kind of hardships they endured in their daily life. Makes me appreciate lighthouses in general now. The view alone of the grounds where the lighthouse sits is definitely a pretty sight and worth stopping by and taking some time here.
We stopped on our drive through the park to see the lighthouse and took the tour through the lighthouse. If was well worth it. Our guide was delightful and had hundreds of historical facts to tell us. The rooms were so much fun to see decorated with furniture that had even been in the family that had lived in the lighthouse.
