midway bar and grill

We wanted an after dinner drink and almost overlooked this place because it had the appearance, well, of a typical neighborhood dive. So we went in for a drink and were pleasantly surprised at the overall wonderful, friendly service we received. The bar, itself, was a bit worn but it was clean. Just came from a rather disappointing dinner at Kusaka, so we didn't sample any food (maybe we should have). The drinks were VERY reasonable and very good. If we're ever back in Mineral Point, we will definitely revisit the Midway Bar and Grill. Glad we tried it!

A colleague and I were in town on a Sunday night for an early monday morning meeting. Mineral Springs - at least outside of the summer season - does not have a lot of places that are open on Sunday evening. The Midway Bar and Grill was an exception, thankfully. This is a smaller, typical bar with a few tables off to the side. After a long drive, we both ordered a mixed drink to relax, with an order of curds (come on, its not optional in Wisconsin). Both very good. They have a good menu, ranging from burgers to steak sandwiches to pizza. Between the two of us, we sampled a ribeye sandwich and a burger, both of which were very good. They also had a selection of about 5 different kinds of potatoes. We got a half order of bar chips (not on the menu) and the brew city fries. Both were good, and I'm guessing the other 3 options would have been, too. They had Spotted Cow, Capital Brewery, and another 2 or 3 national beers on draft, as well as a good selection of bottled beers. Much more than you would expect from a small town bar in a rural area. Our waitress was great, and the owner (her father, if my guess is correct) were both very friendly, took very good care of us, and made sure we were never wanting for anything. Hope I can get back to Mineral Point soon!
