As a kid in the 60's my parents made this a regular stop on our "Grandma and Grandpa runs" to Poy Sippi. We've been buying here since the 70's and it is where we go for cheese to make up a "CARE Package" for relations out of state. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Simply the best brick cheese bar none! They also have a great selection of aged cheddars. Not a large retail location, but definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

I have mail ordered cheese from Widmer's for several years. Their mild and aged brick cheese are excellent. This is a variety that is nearly impossible to find outside Wisconsin. Widmer's has won awards for their brick cheese and they were well deserved.

makes me proud to be a cheese head with a place like this to visit. Great cheese selections but even better you can watch the cheese being made while you buy your cheese. Must try the brick curds

First of all, please note that Widmer's is located in Theresa, WISCONSIN, and not New York. I should know, since I am an original Wisconsin "cheesehead", born and raised nearby. A transplanted Floridian for the past 25 years, I always love to return to my old stomping grounds to immerse myself in the small town life and charming traditions of real world Wisconsin. Located just an hour north of Milwaukee and an easy off-and-on from the 4 lane US 41 connecting Milwaukee to Green Bay, Theresa and Widmer's is perched on the banks of the scenic Rock River, a small truly German community of maybe 500 folks on a busy weekend. Occupying the original cheese making space it opened in 1922, Widmer's churns out almost half a million lbs of its special recipe Brick and Colby cheese, annually. You can get up close and personal with the master cheesemakers on a factory tour (call in advance to reserve) and watch the open vats of curds being stirred and then pressed into molds by original masonry bricks. The tour ends with a tasting and time to shop the local specialties in Widmer's small but busy cheese shop. I always load down my suitcase with blocks of brick and bags of curds before I wing my way back south to Florida..

It was dark inside so at first we did not even know if it was open. There was nothing to make it feel welcoming such as music or i don't know what. As far as the quality and variety of selection of cheese's i don't believe you will find a larger selection.

I love cheese. I mean REALLY love cheese. And Widmer's Brick Cheese is by far my favorite in the world. My family and I visit Widmer's once a year during our annual stay in Wisconsin. We have yet to take a full guided tour, but we do observe the workers in action from the viewing area. But know that if you arrive in late afternoon, the work might already be done for the day. The factory store and viewing area are open during the week from 6:30 AM to 5 PM. Saturdays they are open 7 to 5. They are also open on Sundays during the summer months. Tours are Monday - Friday at 9:30 AM, by appointment only. When you're all filled up with squeaky cheese, head around the corner for some great chocolate at Confections for Any Occasion, by Joel.
