We play here a few times a year, and every time is a welcome challenge. The property is well cared for and very beautiful. Prices are resort-appropriate and often discounts can be had in packages with the Wilderness Hotel complex. Not for the faint of heart, but always a good time.
Club house is set up very well. Pro shop through the front entrance, then head through the bar and pick up drinks for the course. Continue through and your clubs are ready for you on the cart. Course condition was excellent, staff was very helpful and overall course layout was good. Great value for your money.
We have golfed here now for several years and it is a great course. The family course is the way we go and there is something for all of us. Not to mention it's beautiful!
The course is in great condition. The course is very playable but if you get in the trouble spots, it's tough to get out of them. The staff are friendly. The restaurant has good food.
My husband used their range, he didn't really play. But he mentioned several times, how impressed he was with the facility.
We did the family course, it was great and reasonably priced as well. The staff was super friendly and the course was beautiful!
I loved this course. The views were amazing and the layout was challenging, but not so challenging that an average golfer felt like they couldn't have fun. I'm not a very good golfer, but the course was open enough that you had room for mistakes. The greens were very challenging, but it made the course fun.Service was outstanding. I rented clubs and got a newer set of Taylor Made clubs. The carts all had state of the art GPS and scoring systems and the beverage carts made their way around multiple times despite the course being full. All in all, the value, scenery, and challenge makes this course a must if you are a golfer and in the area.
This is hands down the best golf course in the Dells area. It is a beautiful course, well designed and in great shape. Most landing areas are pretty generous so you can hit a lot of fairways but the greens are well protected and have quite a bit of slope (but nothing crazy). Good mix of tough holes and ones that you can score on. I have now played here 4 times and have always had a great experience.
I am a single and looked for a tee time online. Unfortunately the don't allow for single bookings online but its wide open from 7:10 - 8:00. So I get there at 6:15 thinking that I can hit some balls and get on the course right away. The first thing they say to me is that I can't get you on till 7:20 because we don't want to rush the maintenance people. Im like that's fine. Im just gonna hit some balls first. Then they're like since you're a single, I have to charge you a 3 person rate. Ummm...that is ridiculous. It is wide open in front. The other guy behind the desk says, just pair him I'm with the first group. Im fine with that. Well the first group is going out at 7:00. Oh...I thought you're not letting anyone out till 7:20...I guess not.Well other than them trying to charge me 3 times the regular rate and lying to me about the first tee time, the course was in great shape, greens were fast and undulating, and the layout was excellent. But the group that I was paired up with played the course before which made easier to play as they informed me about the danger on the course and how to play certain holes. Though my initial experience with the course was the worst I've ever had with any golf course i've had ever played with (and I've played over 70+ different courses) the guys from Madison, WI (Ben, Ryan, and David) made the round worth it.
Our foursome makes an annual outing to the Dells area to play the different courses. Wild Rock is our favorite. The course has always been in good shape, greens are usually fast and true, speed of play has rarely been a problem. There are some tough holes but I think this adds to the experience. We are a pretty low maintenance group but when we have needed something the staff has been very attentive. Couple of "good to knows" 1. the turn from 9 to 10 is about a mile away from the clubhouse so dont expect to grab something to eat at the turn unless the grill is going which from my experience is rare. 2. Try the stay and play package at the Wilderness, four people can stay two nights, play two rounds and enjoy two lunches (not just a crummy hot dog) all for about $200 a person. We will keep coming back to Wild Rock.
probably the nicest course in the Dells. We had a group that played both here and Trapper's Turn. Wild Rock is a better course for less money, thus a better value. Don't get me wrong, Trapper's Turn was very nice, but Wild Rock was a better layout, better pace of play, and better condition. The greens were fast but true. Needed to repair many balls marks on the greens but you need to expect that on a resort course. The worst thing they had going for them was the 5 tee boxes all had tee markers that were some shade of brown. The slight difference in color could make you crazy, but they put a special marker on the middle tees to help you recognize which tee box you should hit from in relation to the middle tee box. Not sure why they don't use the standard Black, Blue, White, Gold and Red but if that's the worst thing I can think of, the course was pretty darn good.
I usually play golf here once a year. This course is very pretty with some really excellent holes to play. The greens are extremely undulated and difficult to putt if you find the wrong spot. This could make it very difficult the first time you play. It is one of those courses where once you finish a hole you look forward to seeing what the next hole looks like. I would recommend that you give it a shot while in the dells. It is better than all the others in town for sure. One negative is that you spend around 90 bucks to play and they make you hit off of mats on the range. REALLY???? I would expect that at a lower priced facility. Every time I have played here we were on the mats.
Being from Michigan, this course is very reminisent of the courses in the northern part of the state. Great staff and very enjoyable experience. Only problem was that the course was over watered. I played it from the tips and had several tee shots plug in the fairways or got very little roll. Overall, it's a premium course and worth playing if your staying in the area.
This course was in great condition when we golfed last week. It felt like we were out in the wilderness and not at the Dells anymore! (which was a nice little break from the water park fun!)It's not an easy course but very playable. We will be back for more!
Having the choice of 9 or 18 worked out well for my husand & our son. Little pricey but it is a professional course.
