the cabin stop

This used to be a grocery store but it was converted to a liquor store & one stop shopping for all the things you need for a weekend (or week) vacationing up north. Over half the store is alcohol, the rest divided up between bakery, meat, paper products, chips & snacks, cheese, etc. Those of us who live here find this the #1 stop for beers & if they don't have it, they will try to get it. Tons of microbrews!

Unable to compete with larger chain grocery stores in recent years, the grocery store recreated itself to cater to the needs of folks making that "last stop" in their rush to get to the cabin to enjoy the lake. You will find an OUTSTANDING selection of micro-brews from across the US and abroad. The liquor department manager knows his beers, and stocks many of the top-ranked, often-obscure, micro-brews. The wine selection is substantial, too. And the most amazing thing is the PRICES are often the best in town!The Cabin Stop also stocks huge selections of lake staples like chips, dip, barbecue sauces, and coffee. They maintain a meat department, but carry an amazing array of things you may not find elsewhere in Hayward ... Like calamari, lobster and crab. So if you're planning a gourmet meal, stop here for seafood, steaks or ribs.The bakery still churns out specialty breads, enhanced by an olive oil-tasting bar.Tucked in the corner that formerly housed the liquor department is a small area that stocks other "last-minute" needs ...
