massage envy spa

the experience after three massages is mixed.. had good first one, then the therapist is now unavailable most weeks.. the second message resulted in a cancellation because of a therapist who is a common no-show.the third message was poor because the therapist was too weak in massaging, and decided to heal my face by holding it for three minutes instead of massaging it or working my scalp.,.seemed a little weird. my last one was more like it. I wil be back, price is right...I am the eternal optimist.

I've been to one other Massage Envy in the past and had a good experience, but I know that the experience can be extremely different based on the therapist you so, so I was a little apprehensive when booking my massage. Luckily, my therapist was fantastic; she used the perfect amount of pressure (instead of assuming that I meant light when I said medium), focused a lot on the spots that I requested (instead of doing the usual routine with two minutes of added attention to problem areas), and continued the massage for the full 50 minutes (instead of cutting it off 5 minutes early for me to get dressed). I was never one to splurge on things like massages, but this one was so great that I became a member the same day!

The overall experience was very generic and almost sales pitchy. I would not return.The initial check-in and questionnaire was standard and welcoming. After filling out the form I was taken back to a second waiting room. Here I waited almost 20 minutes. Finally I was taken to the room for my massage. I noticed there were a ton of rooms, all of which were very basic in décor. I took note of the time I undressed and once the massage was complete it was 50 minutes later! Therefore the massage is not a true 60 minutes and instead more like 45 minutes. 5 minutes to undress, 5 minutes to dress then 10 minutes for a post consultation. The actual massage was average at best. There were no aromatherapy scents or candles like I have experience at other places. I felt like the massage was right out of a massage book, nothing special or catered to my needs. After my post consolation I was taken to the front desk to check out. This is the main reason why I would never recommend this place. I was flooded with sales pitches to buy a membership. I told the girl I was not interested and she was so persistent I could feel my stress returning as I stood there. I left stressed and disappointed. This chain is not focused on the wellbeing of it's customers. I will not be back nor recommending this chain.

It is hard to get the same therapist, even if you request them. Sometimes it feels very hurried. Never about the client, only about the time. When I go to other therapists, they don't mind working on my even just a little longer if necessary. They don't build in extra time for discussion, so I always feel rushed. It is hard to feel zen-like if you're always cognizant of having to hurry to get dressed to free the room for the next client. The staff is always friendly, but they don't always try hard enough to accommodate your needs. Otherwise it's okay.
