Fresh cut French fries! Wings, ! a good game of darts , a bit noisy for atmosphere, but certainly better than the other locally owned diners (except the Kwik Shop! That's the best!)
The last time I was in the food was good....the previous time not so good. They should work on have a consistent good quality.
my sister and I just moved to hamburg from New York and are trying to meet people. we came in with New York State id's and Charissa refused to serve us because she was unfamiliar with them. when I told her I had other forms of Id she could have cared less and we waited 10+ minutes just to have our id's checked in the first place. I will never return. horrible service and very unhelpful/ rude staff.
We went to Westy's with friends for the first time a few months ago and have been back a few times since. Great place to eat. Food was very good and the prices are right. Portions are nice size and you will leave feeling full. Delicious!!! Can't wait to go again! Try it, you will like it!
It's hard to argue with success. Westy's found its niche and is doing a great job keeping the tables full, if our latest visit is any indication. I would describe said niche as the I-don't-want-to-cook-up-some-prepared-food-for-supper-tonight-so-let's-have-someone-else-cook-some-prepared-food-for-us crowd: lots of families with kids as well as older patrons who don't feel like searching through the freezer. Westy's also understands the local mantra of restaurant success: fried, starch, cheap. Understand that Westy's is in Pa Dutch country. As my father in law readily admitted many times, he would rather go out to a restaurant serving two-for-one hot dogs than one serving a very tasty steak that might cost $20 or $30. Westy's menu appeals to the discriminating wallet: most of the food our party ordered was fresh from the wholesaler's freezer. A couple of items appeared to be made fresh from frozen ingredients. The one thing they have not messed with is the french fries. Since the days (decades ago) when Westy's was known as the Hamburg Hotel, entrees have been accompanied by large servings of french fries. Aficionados (e.g. my father in law) would also order fries as the side vegetable. They had to bring the pile of fries out on a separate plate. Anyway, that tradition persists. Another interesting practice is the use of clear plastic food service containers in which all salad dressings and side veggies (except fries!) are served. Reminds you of a cafeteria. But, given the context, it's not surprising. So, in the end, if your expectations are low, you will not be disappointed.
