A very informative approach to wine tasting. We were there during St. Patrick's Day festivities which included a Irish band. The wines and the wine expert were top shelf. While we were there, we met the owner's father, who gave us additional insight into how this winery evolved. A true gentleman!
We visited Crossing Vineyard a few months ago when we moved to the area. It was a quiet day, and we received great one on one attention. We were impressed by the quality and variety of wines and decided to join their wine club. We are so happy with our decision! We went back for another tasting (free for wine club members), gained additional insights into their wine, and enjoyed meeting the owner. They have quality wines but are not overly formal in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable. The guides provide insight about the wines and listen to what you like and don't like. I'm looking forward to visiting in the warmer months for some of the fun events they offer!
We have visited many wineries around the world and have experienced different manners of wine tasting from the informal do it yourself to the guided tours and stories. This location has a tasting room that you enter with your wine glasses after you pay for your choice of tasting ($8 for 8 wines, $12 for 12 wines, other stuff extra including cheese and crackers, chocolates, etc.) The day we were there our host was very attentive and knowledgeable explaining each wine in detail regarding the grapes, how to pair, etc. They do get busy and the servers can be stretched when they have to run between multiple groups, so be prepared to be left waiting for your next pour. If you are in a hurry, this is not your place. There were just two of us and we spent an hour here because of the number of people being served at once by one person. Also, unless you pay extra for plates of cheese or whatever, you will not be offered anything between pours to cleanse your palette, so bring your own pretzels or crackers. This was a drag because it was hard to taste the differences in the wines without the taste break. The cheese plate would have been too much for just two of us, it is more for at least 3 people. We were not offered this option or any other option when we walked in, the girl just said, "hi are you here to taste? $8 for 8 wines $12 for 12 here is the list - let me know." We were actually not happy about this when we found out inside there were some other choices. The location itself is very pretty, and a fairly large facility. The quality of their wines was better than at some other places we went to that day. I will say this, the host did a great job with his 3 groups and he offered to let me taste other wines not on the standard $8 tour because I really don't like red wines and was not interested in tasting them. He was very accommodating and that won him gold stars in my book which is why I gave this a very good rating and not just average. We would probably go back but better prepared.
We were recently at a 60th surprise birthday party at The Crossings. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The event staff was so wonderful, i.e., friendly, experienced and really moved everything along. As far as the wine goes, I have been to quite a few wineries up in Bucks County, but the Crossings is my favorite by far! I stuck with their mixed red wine which consisted of various red flavored wines. It was fabulous. The cocktail hour was fantastic with various cheeses, and a fresh fruit tray along with many delicious hot hors d'oeuvres were to die for. Mini crab cakes, bacon wrapped scallops and mini cheesburgers. Then after cocktail hour we went upstairs to the dining room and were served a delicious plate of baked chicken and Filet Mignon. It was the best experience I have ever had at a winery and I highly recommend it. Unfortunately I cannot give any insight to the price per person, so I'm not sure how it compares to other wineries or restaurants in the area, since we were an invited party guest.
Visited on Saturday afternoon and tasted 13 varieties, Gary was an excellent host, very knowledgeable and attentive. Definitely will return.
I've been going to this winery for almost ten years. Their wines are wonderful - try the Chocolate Cherry Truffle! - and their staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We had my sister's bridal shower here, and the event staff is a treat to work with. They also host events and concerts, and they're great fun. I HIGHLY recommend this winery for events, or just a lovely day out with friends.
We have been to this beautiful winery many times, for winemaker dinners, food-and-wine pairings, wine classes, even concerts, and they are all great events. However, we fell in love with CV eight years ago on a frigid late-December afternoon, much like the day last week when we visited to taste their current offerings. As always, we had a wonderful time, and the wines were excellent. This was a busy Saturday but the warm, professional staff greeted everyone affably and made them feel at home. We were taken to the barrel room for our tasting. What could be more authentic. We were happy to see that our long-time friend Gary would be conducting our tasting because, not only does he possess expertise, but he provides frank critical judgments which leads to great discussions about wine. Gary is a real asset, and we always enjoy his tastings. Of course, we enjoyed the wines as well and purchased a mixed case of our favorites. Some of these included their newly released 2013 reds which should age beautifully as have many past vintages. Many times recently I've had CV's reds from 2006, 2007, and 2008. These are now in magnificent shape. Top-notch people, property, and wine. CV HAS IT ALL. We look forward to returning soon.
A friend gave us a Groupon for Wine and Cheese Pairing. So glad they did. The winery is in a very beautiful area. Our hostess Ashley was wonderful. We tasted 12 wines and paired them with 5 different cheeses. Ashley took us through each wine and explained what we would taste and how it would taste with the cheese. All the wines were very good. The Chocolate Cherry Truffle (port) was our favorite. We will most certainly go back in the Spring when everything is in bloom.
We went to the Wine Tasting for Dummies class. So much fun! Our host Gary was terrific. He knew his wines and his wine combinations. He had a great energy. He never made us feel like real dummies. We actually learned a thing or too in the process. We will be going back for their other offerings.
I randomly stumbled upon Crossing Vineyards via Twitter by a suggestion from a follower. Living in Newtown I didn't realize I had a great Vineyard only minutes away. Being a Sommelier I never spent much time with local vineyards however when I went in for a tasting I was actually impressed! Laura did a fantastic job taking me through the wines describing each idiosyncratic taste of each wines profiles. Chardonnay does well in Pennsylvania, and their Legacy was my favorite. If there is one bottle I suggest buying to enjoy at home it's that, for 25$ it's worth the price point. The atmosphere is cozy yet lively, you get a true sense unique vineyard. The Staff like Laura, Margo, Beth & Christa are well approachable, friendly, funny and seem to be absolutely passionate about wine which a person in my industry can appreciate. I'm looking forward to more visits & this is def worth a stop for a lazy afternoon. They are really doing something special here & I'm excited to tour their vineyard in the Spring!
What a place! Awesome events, beautiful grounds and superb wines make this place a must see! Owner Tom Carrol Sr., who can regularly be seen mingling with visitors, really makes you feel as though you're old friends! We've attended many of their events and now we're members of the wine club, which I HIGHLY recommend because trust me, every wine will be your favorite! This is a one stop shop for entertainment, wine, tasting with friends or if you just want to get away for some solitude. We look forward to many, many visits to Crossing Vineyards for years to come!
We were delighted to find a great selection of dry red wines for tasting. Their tasting wine list was extensive and you could choose any 8 for a tasting for $8. We were asked what type of wine we enjoyed and the tasting was tailored to our taste. We were able to try all dry reds. We were also offered a taste of the Le Nouveau & the Chocolate Cherry Truffle (Port) which neither of us thought we would like but both were surprisingly good. The only thing that bothered me was that we were required to pay the tasting fee up front even though we were the only customers there. Most wineries of this caliber don't require payment up front unless they are busy or having an event. I'm use to paying along with my wine purchase. Overall nice winery which we will return to again if we are in the area.
I always enjoy visiting Crossings. The wine is delicious and the scenery is beautiful. The staff take care of you here.
Natasha A obviously knows nothing about wine or people. Anybody can have their own opinion of wine but awful this wine is not. There are wines you don't care for, say sweet as opposed to dry, but this winery makes very good wine. Look at the awards they have won, judged by professionals. We always have a great time at the winery. The events, the food, the wine are all very well done. This is obviously a person having a bad day with a flat tire and a bad attitude. Come the wine not car service.
The winery is beautiful on the outside, and quaint and cozy on the inside. They have a small tasting room, kind of awkwardly situated in the gift shop. The wines were pretty good, although the per-bottle price seemed high. Tasting attendant was friendly but had a relatively flat personality.
