We took the 5pm Santa train on Sunday. This train ride is an hour long trip. The train has one stop to pick up Santa at an old train depot. The trip was okay but I think it could easily with very little effort by the rail road company be a lot better. Mrs Claus is on board for the whole trip but she has little inter action with the children other then handing out a coloring page/wish list. The elf just walks thru the train no interaction with the children. Santa on the other hand was pretty awesome and spent a good amount of time with each child. Also an updated sound system would help as you cannot hear the music at all as there is only on speaker per train car. That being say the kids enjoyed the ride the adults not so much, it just needed a little more effort by the company to bring a bit more of magic to the ride.

Boarded the train at 2:40 for a 3:00 departure. Paid $15 each for the trip. The train departed on time and very very slowly crawled up the tracks. There was no scenery to see except peoples back yards that were up against the railroad track on one side, and trees on the other. No decorations, no lights. No refreshments were offered so bring your own (If they allow it). After 1/2 hour we made a short stop, only to reverse course to see the same backyards. Santa was to visit the children on this train. Our car was the last visited by Santa. However by the time he got to us, the train already arrived back at the station. We sat there as Santa quickly visited each child. I think Santa should have timed it better to see everyone while the train was moving. The kids were getting bored and started to fuss when it took an hour for him to visit them. We felt that he spent more time with the children on the other cars then ours. Also there is only one bathroom on the train...not enough when there were 4 passenger cars filled with children and adults. The only plus side was the Elf that stayed with our train car the entire time. She was nice. However I would not recommend this Train ride.

The food was average. There was no commentary about what we were seeing (if anything). Service was below average. Not worth $45 per person.

It was a nice hour and a half long ride in an open air car. The food was ok. The closed cars were mostly unrestored, just the way they should be. Max speed was about 28 mph by my phone gps, A fun low-key event. Mixed views.

I am a true railroad fan and this train ride was one of my all time favorites. A nice long and peaceful trip and the folks here are some of the friendliest people you could meet.

It was okay. we took the 5pm train for the dinner and I was a little disappointed. First a member of our party could not attend due to emergency and no refunds are given at all. The train is old and the dining cart area is not as clean. The food was good, not great on presentation but good. Dinnerware is very old but clean. The staff is very nice and the open train car was nice but if taking the evening train in fall, you will not be able to take photos. It is too dark. They should run an early dinner train at 4pm. The main part of the scenic train ride is the lake they pass but other than that, its mostly looking in peoples back yards and a highway that runs parallel. Overall it was okay. I had a nice time just riding the train.

This ride is 1 1/2 hours long, out and back. Traveler tip- sit on the station/boarding side of the train-the other side view is not as nice as you parallel the road. A short local and train history was interesting, comfortable ride. Stops for about 10 minutes at Hammond Lake then heads back. Small snack bar (cash) on board. Not a bad $20 ride at all.

We have wanted to take a train ride. Found out about Tioga railroad and website revealed a dinner ride. 2-1/2 ride. It was an Oktoberfest menu - homemade catering. Chef was awesome! As soon as we boarded dinner was served. Staff was amazingly efficient and friendly. Cash wine & beer available. Perfect amount of time for dinner and ride. Perfect choice to try out something new. We will definitely do this again!

It is something to do for an hour and a half. There isn't much to see but the seats are comfortable.

My partner and I ride every train excursion we can and found this ride boring. A narrator told us the history of the train and the area which was the most interesting part of the ride. Not much to see.

My husband is a train buff, and when we travel we try to work in excursion train rides. So we're working our way through all of them in the U.S.This train ride starts out of a small area near a freight line. There isn't an indoor waiting area, so bring an umbrella if it's raining. The train is pulled by two diesel locomotives, and it runs along a professionally maintained track that is used for freight. I mention this, because the train ride was remarkably smooth for an excursion. Usually, the tracks are not well maintained, and we get jostled from side to side. Thankfully, since this was a dinner ride, it was relatively smooth. One of the buildings houses the ticket window. When you ride the dinner train, unless you are a party of four, they will assign you another couple to dine with. We picked up our tickets and table assignment. They load the train by table number. To board the train they have a ramp, which is wheelchair accessible. The Conductor was very helpful in getting people who needed a little more assistance up the ramp. We were seated in one of two dining cars. The table was set with white table cloths. The windows on both sides of the train were expansive, and allowed you a good view of the passing scenery, regardless of which side you sat on.The food is cooked on board the train. It is not cooked elsewhere, and then loaded on board. Dinner service began almost immediately after we left the station. It started with drink choices of freshly brewed iced tea, lemonade or water. In addition there was bar service which included beer and wine, which was available for an additional fee.We had the Octoberfest meal which was bratwurst, sauerkraut, pork loin with a mustard sauce, and a maple flavored spaghetting squash. For a meal cooked on the train, it was good. Not fine dining good, but a nice meal. The alternate meal was chicken, and our dining companion had that and said she enjoyed it. We all opted for the pumpkin cobbler for dessert. That was less successful, and we didn't care for it. The better choice would have been the strawberry shortcake. As we ate, the fall scenery passed in front of us. We had some nice views, and a comfortable ride. This train runs with locomotives on both ends. At the halfway point they stop the train, and the engineer and brakeman walk to the other end of the train and drive the other locomotive back to the station. Be aware that there will be a major lurch to test the brakes once the engineer has made it to the new front of the train. This is required by law, and unless you are seated, you might go flying. We made it back to the station and disembarked, full and satisfied in being able to check off another train excursion off our life list. There is nothing truly remarkable to see on this journey, it was all about the ride for us. We enjoyed it, and the fall colors made it even better.

Finally rode the train this vacation in Wellsboro. Waste of money. Railroad cars on both sides and especially on left side forever. Then a marsh on the right side. After that all you see is trees and brush, a few back yards and two views of route 287. At the end you see the lake. You should just drive to the lake and save almmost two hours and $20 a head. Plus on the way back we were treated to four brats and no discipline from the parents misbehaving badly. WASTE OF TIME.

This is how they traveled back in the 1940's which is a slow pace ride .Upon arrival we bought our tickets at the ticket booth. While boarding the train as the did back in the 1940's. We where greeted by a man dressed in a conductor uniform who is willing to answer any questions you may have about the 24 mile round trip excursion to the north end of Hammond Lake. As a passenger you are welcome to walk freely through out the train. As a "Caution: Watch your step when walking from one train car to another." Yes folks there are restrooms throughout the train to use. The first car is called " Ives Run" it is an open observation car so you can enjoy the beautiful Pennsylvania mountains .Its a nice photo opportunity an you get to enjoy some fresh air.Next car is called " Canyon Club" and it is the "oldest car"on the train. In this car you will find a snack bar which is reasonably priced. The train also has two coaches an two dining cars. On Saturdays nights they serve dinner an Sundays they serve brunch. There are also themed ride events like Ice Cream an the Santa Village along with other special events. When you get back to the boarding station there is a gift shop. But it does close early on Sundays. It was a nice relaxing day out an is a fun trip for the whole family to enjoy. I can't wait to take my grandchildren.
