This 3 generation group ages 10 months to 69 years all had fun. The toddler/preK room had a fun water feature that even the 10 month old enjoyed. Dad and grandma enjoyed building with the big tinker toy type blocks- a house big enough to get into. I was very impressed with how clean it was. There were several employees walking around disinfecting everything. Go here!
I took my son to the museum during the summer. I thought it was a great added attraction around Silver Beach, but he lost interest quickly. Their attractions try to having a leaning curve that seems to be lost due to the children just randomly interacting with them. There is no central air on hot days and the cost for adults is a bit steep.
Walked over on a chilly morning, just after a short rain shower to wait out the beautiful weather. This is an old bungalow style home re-purposed to be a museum. Lots of stuff for the kids to play with, different rooms and things to touch and see. We happened to go when there was a daycare outing, so it was a tad crowded but my 3 year old really enjoyed himself there for a good 2 hours.
This is a wonderful children's museum. Don't miss it. Easy parking. Loads of different hands-on activities for your little ones.
I have three boys (ages 2, 4&12) and they had an absolutely wonderful time. We actually went earlier this summer and enjoyed it so much we took a second trip. For both museums it was $46 for our family of 5. Our children played in the huge water tables for literally an hour and then enjoyed the rest of DZ (rock wall, a little pretend camping area, a dinosaur thing) on our way up to the other museum we played in the fountains (tons of fun!) The Curious Kids Museum part was a blast. (Better for our younger boys than DZ). Highlights were the vet, apple tree & the emergency vehicles upstairs. They played for another 2 hours in there. Everything is hands on! So all in all, we had 4 hours of fun (plus a splash in the fountains and some time on the beautiful beach) for less than $50- you could literally make an entire day out of this trip for a good price, we will do again next summer for sure!!!
This was a nice small museum with a lot of activities for the kids to do. My kids are ages 10 and 7 and they both had a great time. It was six dollars per person and it has a sister museum by the carousel that you can visit as well, although the cost id 4 dollars more. Overall I thought it was a good value for what you paid.
The museum packs a wide range of activities into its two floors. We had four kids, ages 8mos to 8 years and most could find a range of activities. There were also staff on-hand to explain and assist, Like many museums we visit, a number of the more complex displays were in-operable on the day we visited.
Wow they packed a whole bunch of great interactive/learning experiences into one building. We took our grandkids 8 and 3 years old and they loved it. We spent about 3 hours there and they had plenty to do for all age groups. Be sure to visit the music room and the "stand inside a bubble machine. A great find!
We went here on a colder day in St. Joseph with our two children (ages 2 and 9 months) and LOVED it! Contrary to other reviews, I did not think it was cheap or too simple at all. There was do-it-yourself face painting. A room with huge foam building pieces. A slide. Upstairs was a room of musical instruments. A big fire truck with outfits the kids could wear and hoses they could play with. A bubble station. And more that we didn't even get to. Downstairs they had what I think they called a "toddle farm" =, specifically designated for ages 0-4 and it was so much fun. A water station. A barn with a slide and animals. A chicken house with stuffed animal chickens and wooden eggs. A play house with food. And an area designated for babies and equipped with a good selection of baby toys. So rather than be stuck in the stroller the whole time, we could let our 9 month old to crawl around. They even had a nursing station in that room, secluded for privacy. it was just very well-thought out. We were there for two hours and could have spent way longer had it not been close to nap time! The $6 admission fee was WELL worth it. Wish we had one of these in Ohio!
With a 5yo and a 2yo it can be hard finding tasks to keep both kids entertained and excited. Curious Kids does all of that and more! Both girls raced down the first hall both diving into separate activities. There were simple and fun games for our 2yo who likes to see what objects can do (push buttons, make noise, spin, turn, shake,..etc.) but still had things to do that kept out rowdy 5yo excited and eager to try and read/learn all of the exhibits. Their favorite thing was the face paints. We all left with interesting artwork all over our cheeks which easily washed off that night before bed (which I was very thankful for!). Both girls had a great time and so did the hubs and I. We even learned our names in sign language! This place rocks. We will be back!
Very hands on experience. We spend quite a bit of time walking around and actively participating in the exhibits.
This place is just OK. It's pretty old and low budget and it's not cheap to get into. However, when you go on a beach vacation and it's raining outside, sometimes is one of only a few activities to choose from. The one neat exhibit they had was the apple picking - complete with conveyor belt and grocery store. The "volcano" was laughable - they had a countdown and then a light flashed...big deal. All the kids kept waiting for something to happen.I highly recommend going to Silver Beach pizza if you're in town.
Terrific museum! We have been grandparent members for nearly 20 years and it is the first place the grandchildren ask to go when they are in town. The interactive displays are educational, entertaining and varied enough for all ages. It is very common to see an adult trying to figure something out. They now have an annex that was suppose to appeal to older children, however, we have found the kids of all ages now want to go to BOTH. Be aware--children usually do not want to leave.
We took our grandchildren over the weekend and had the greatest time. The staff was friendly. A learning experience for the entire family. I recommend going and why you are there go to Silver Beach Pizza. The best Pizza I have ever had.
My 6 year old enjoyed herself pretty well for a 2-3 hour visit. Coming from a couple of cities with interactive kids museums, this location didn't blow me away. At the same time I appreciate the effort put into making the exhibits fun and approachable. The admission price was really great, not something that was going to break the bank - a big bonus.
