The parking lot was full of snowmobiles and trailers--looks like this is the place to stay and play if you're into that. We stayed for a night, and while we didn't play on the trails on the golf course, I wish we could have. Our room was simple, decent bed, clean and fairly quiet. Nothing special room-wise. No complaints. We heard the breakfast wasn't very good, so we ventured into town instead.

Good luck to a resort trying to bring interest and tourism to Cadillac. This is not New York, London or Paris so we need to keep our reviews in perspective. We spent four days there for a wedding. The place is a bit tired and could do with a face lift. There is new management so things may improve. We did find our room of good size, clean and with all due amenities. We found the staff particularly helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Several of our group didn't like the hardness of the beds but they suited us just fine. The price was right and reflective of the general standard of the resort. I wrote up the restaurant separately and, frankly, it was pretty bad. But, all in all, not a bad stay, nice friendly staff and lots of good intentions. We wish them well.

We stayed at McGuire's Resort in Cadillac on our way to Traverse City. The room was very clean & quiet. They allow dogs in The Cedars section. Although these rooms have only 2 double beds. We managed to get by. The pool, Sauna, & hot tub were excellent! The Grandkids loved the deep pool! Beautiful golf course surrounding the Resort. I would highly recommend this Resort. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you for being pet friendly!

The staff are so accommodating I literally felt like royalty! I cannot say enough about how great it was, amazing rooms, THE BEST food & I can't go on enough about the staff. SO wonderful, shout out to Kayla, Josh & Andrea especially.

McGuires Resort has activities year round. An 18 hole and 9 hole course that are both challenging yet forgiving are just a short walk from any room. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is a main dining area and Curlys Pub where the food is very good. Winter activities include a sliding hill, a lit cross country ski trail and access to hundreds of mile of snowmobile trails. Also there is an indoor pool with hot tub and changing rooms. The pool area has a game area with a fireplace some games and tables to sit and talk. We have been to Mcguires many times over the years with family and friends. A pleasant and fun time.

McGuires Resort is an all-season resort that we visited during the summer for a golf outing with friends. We purchased a package that included two days of golf, a night's lodging, and a breakfast. They have an 18-hole course and a 9-hole course, but this review is just for the 18-hole course. The course is a narrow tree-lined course with numerous blind shots especially for the men from their tees. When we played the course could have used more maintenance - the grass in the fairways were a bit weedy and quite long. The rooms were adequate - clean and quite roomy. I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, but someone else in our group thought it was limited. We had a great time while playing the course. This is not the place to go if you expect pristine conditions or an impressive golf course, but it is a very affordable place to go golfing with friends.

Do not Stay and Play, Play and GO!!! The course was great but the rooms, food and service Not Good! Unfriendly and a bit Rude was the norm for the 2 night stay, but was there to play golf and that was Great. Stay somewhere else!

We stayed at McGuire's as a group of 20 on our annual golf outing. We were treated like queens for the entire 3 days we were there. The evening waitstaff remembered previous day's drink orders, made suggestions, and were very attentive to our needs and whims. We found the value to be outstanding and the layout to be great for groups. The course was beautiful as well as playable for all of our varied levels.

Went on golf outing with 3 other couples. We were on a group deal and price was excellent. Also, enjoyed the course..challenging enough for the guys, yet enjoyable for the ladies. On the plus side, Curlie's food and salad bar were good. Waitress, Jeannie superb! She went above and beyond to make us welcome, even putting Olympics on one tv set and Tiger baseball on the other. We had planned on getting a happy hour drink and eating in Cadilac. Very glad we stayed, thanks to Jeannie. Negative side: beds very firm, you can hear noisy latecomers through the doors. Air conditioner loud. So not a restful night. Beware of breakfast sausage..must be fat gram city! Guys on trip, had GI distress. Us girls were smart enough to pass on the breakfast buffet meat. The eggs are a little gross and hash browns probably fat loaded too. Advise sticking to yogurt, fruit, cereal and toast or bringing your own protein breakfast bar. The hallways, elevator floor could use a good vacuuming. Also, the plywood base of the bed visible..so not an impressive impression when you enter your room. You will be alright if you go with the attitude: Affordable golfing with "just okay" resort.

The best part of the establishment is the soup and salad buffet. The food is good, the prices are comparable to other establishments, but it's not any better.

When I say "not spectacular", I mean that we weren't wowed by what McGuire's had to offer -- but we were very satisfied. We purchased a Groupon Getaway deal that included 4 nights, free breakfast buffet, and 2 $20 vouchers to either of their on-site restaurants. The value for it was outstanding, and honestly was the determining factor in buying the package, but you can get packages from the resort directly for $90 a night or less. The rooms were adequate, with adjoining room options, great A/C, the mattress was firm yet comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. All their rooms are non-smoking, and they charge a cleaning fee if you smoke in the rooms, so no foul odors. The glasses next to the ice bucket were very old and scratched, so we didn't use those. The coffee maker in the bathroom wasn't as clean as we had liked, so we didn't rely on that, either. The ceiling had cinder block in it, so our room was VERY soundproof. Honestly, the only noise we ever heard was through the door to our room as people walked down the hallway or entered/exited their own rooms. The staff was very friendly. I had forgotten to print out my Groupon voucher prior to arriving, so they offered to look it up on my account online, asking me to put in my email and password to look it up so they could get the correct information. Jennifer also gave me some information on some outdoor evening spots we could visit around Cadillac. One of the servers in Curly's Sports Pub wasn't especially pleasant, but everyone else was very helpful. The pool is indoor and heated, and there's a game room right next to pool access, so it's a nice place to gather with friends if you want a place to socialize. We didn't golf, although I might have if we'd had the time -- the parts of the course we could see were beautiful, and from what I hear, it's one of the resort's biggest draws. Cadillac is next to Manistee National Forest, and apparently, it's a snowmobiler's paradise in the winter; Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell are also not far away for water enthusiasts. Most of our time was spent in Traverse City, Silver Lake, and other areas, so McGuire's was a great central location for our other destinations. The breakfast buffet features hash browns and what seems like powdered eggs daily, plus meat choices that varied by day. Not the best, but I've had much worse. The Terrace Room is a great place for the buffet, with a feel to the room like it's a nice space to wake up in the morning, and the servers are attentive. A couple days I even got carry out containers and took breakfast to our room, and they even gave me to-go cups for coffee. The food at Curly's Sports Pub was excellent -- on Tues and Thurs they have all-you-can-eat ribs for $12.99, and they are FANTASTIC. I'm not a big rib person, but these were so tender they fell off the bone. Also tried their cheddar soup and their Paddy Melt -- all the food was great. The only real complaints -- the building is old, so there are some places in need of some hard cleaning and a little TLC, but those are mostly found in public areas rather than in the guest rooms themselves. The other is that Cadillac itself doesn't have much to offer unless you're a golfer or an outdoorsman. But for the price, we really couldn't beat that value we got from staying at McGuire's. Thank you!

The "included breakfast" is not worth crossing the street for, if you eat breakfast one time in the restaurant you will not go back. The eggs are not edible, and the "meat" is very under cooked. If you golf it may be ok but the pool is nothing special and and there is not much else to do in walking distance.

Sad to say this "resort" needs lots of work, the quality had gone downhill. The hotel rooms need updating and the quality of food just isn't there anymore. The golf course is still nice, but unfortunately I don't play golf.

This is an upscale resort where there's a lot for a family to participate in.
