This is a great park to visit for all age groups, singles and families. They have a nature museum, classes, trails, duck pond, play equipment and a water park. Also a really good sledding hill in the winter.
Heritage park is one of the best part around Farmington Hills Area. It is free for Farmington Hills residents. Has a great water parks -water splashing ground running entire summer time. Trail is great to walk and finding some rare birds and animals. Stage for Jazz or any other music and dance program in summer evening is awesome. Has volleyball sand ground, concrete hokey ground, BBQ grill, plan ground for soccer. Free parking for the resident. . Overall one of the best place for kids and adults.
The staff inside the nature center are very nice, but the "so called" rangers are not nice. If you pick up a flower or a little piece of rock, they will tell you to put it back down and not touch it. They are very rude and they think that they are "real" rangers, but they are just employees there with a bad attitude. So, if you decide to go there and you have small children, be ready for the rangers to make them cry.
A well maintained park in Farmington hills, MI. We can enjoy a board walk and the scenic overlook is really wonderful . NOT TO BE MISSED. We can see chipmunk and chirping of birds. We can enjoy trail walks which are worth trying. There is a place for kids to play and for picnic lovers this is an ideal place.
I visit this park often - at least once per week. Miles of beautiful, well-maintained trails, a great splash park for the kids, a small indoor nature center and so much more! Bring the family and plan on spending the day.Note: Thursday nights during the summer there are free concerts at the amphitheater - bring a picnic dinner and a blanket!
Nature center is wonderful-- ranger can give you lots of information! Great for kids. Have several trails(with maps provided). In the summer they have a 'sprinkler' section for kids
Rarely in the middle of a city will you find the acreage and facilities like this. Family events, sledding, hiking, as well as interesting programs are all here for the benefit of our community.
River going there is cool. But even thou they allow animals with additional registering at the Rochester City offices. During events that they have at the park. They wont let you in with your furry buddy. Not sure how they can do that. Considering its a public park that is funded by tax money. During events, parking is confusing. Even worst with handicap. Things/goods expensive. The park really is made of two parks. Why that is. I don't know. There city counsel is a little stuck on them self's. It shows with these events.
I can just reiterate what other people have said, it is fantastic. Beautiful park with trails, a kids above ground water park (no need to know how to swim here), a nice nature center, a hill to sled down in the winter, deer, birdwatching, hills, and a nice small river/creek running down the middle of the park. You'd never know you were surrounded by a big city.
From sprinkling zone to huge playground. Walking paths with bird observation to historical house + nature center.
We love the park. There are great walking trails of various distances and all are scenic with a good chance of seeing deer. The picnic area is always clean with lots of tables. The Spklash Pad is excellent for kids and adulgts seem to enjoy it as well. We love taking grandchildren to the Nature Center. This is really a great family place but also good for adults.
great place to relax.going here for 25yrs.familys love the place swings grills and covered area.walking trails are great.
It is a great park to take a walk. Great nature, some paved trails, some are wood chips. Thursdays in the summer they have music at the ampitheatre. We had a few of our wedding photos taken here. They also have a small historic pet cemetery.
