diehls orchard & cider mill

Great cider and donuts and during Ciderfest there are craft shows. They have apples to buy, apple pies to buy. There are jams etc too. You can see donuts being made too.

Stopped by Diehls Orchard on the way home from Holly and I enjoyed the place. They have a pretty decent sized parking lot and it is free to hang out and relax. The store was pretty big with plenty of tasty treats to buy you can get doughnuts and cider. The cider is a little pricey at 7 dollars a gallon but its not too bad and still goes well with the doughnuts. They have attractions such as a hayride and maze but we never checked them out. It was a little bust on Sunday but the line moved quick and we were in and out. Sat on the tailgate of the truck and enjoyed the cider and doughnuts for an hour.

Visited here today for the first time with my family. Overall I enjoyed the place but it wasn't anything unique or even that great and wouldn't make a trip back there without trying other places first. The orchard is on a narrow dirt residential street but has several parking areas available free of charge. Inside the store was a food stand that didn't look particularly appetizing, but I did not try it so can't judge, there is a large assortment of jams, jellies, butters (banana butter!) relishes, etc. which are moderately priced around 6-7$ jar. They also have pies and breads, but the bread about $7 a loaf! They have two lines available for donuts, one where you can buy individual or one where it's either a half-dozen or dozen (can't remember) that you must get. The cider is available from pint size up to a gallon, and is way overpriced at over $7 a gallon! We tried the sugar and plain donuts and the cider. Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with any of them :-( Don't get me wrong, they were good, but they weren't great, the cider was more like apple juice, and for the price I felt cheated. On grounds they advertise a "playground" and a "hay stack", but it's a bare bones wooden structure with some equipment missing and my daughter reports it was slippery in spots. The hay stack was just a few bales scattered in a small area. We didn't try the hay ride, but it's 3$ and appears to be a short ride. The kids did the $5 corn maze but didn't complete it because it was "boring". We went on a Saturday and the place was packed. At one point the donut line went through the store and out to the road (that a really long way!) but it moved steadily. As far as bathroom facilities go, they had a few port-o-potties that were fairly well maintained although very full and the hand washing station was out of paper towels. The grounds were kept clean and there was a ton of picnic tables, which was very nice. Also, dogs are allowed on the property (but not in the store) which was nice so I didn't have to leave the puppy at home while we enjoyed the fresh air! Overall we enjoyed ourselves and we are happy we checked it out, but as I said earlier, we won't likely be repeat customers.
