Great park for multiple outdoor activities! We especially like the vast trails for walking/hiking - the fall colors were spectacular this year. Also, this park offers a nice, clean, sandy beach and small lake to enjoy for water sports during the warmer season. In addition, we noticed there are two small cabins available to rent for those who may prefer a less "rustic" camping experience. Park staff were busy working on the vast grounds trying to keep it well maintained - which is always much appreciated! Keep up the good job - it makes all the difference.Thanks!

Awesome grounds, and much to see. The trial grounds are set up nice for an out and back 1 hour course. The surrounding area is beautiful!!Word of caution...the "passport" parking fee is strictly enforced and you best not get out to stretch and you'll have a ticket.

With a sandy beach area, great camping, and rentals for kayaks, canoes and paddle boats, this state park just north of I-96 (near Grand Rapids) is a gem. I went to the beach on a warm weekday in mid-June, and it was practically empty. The beach area has a fairly modern bath house with running water and toilets, and the grassy area beyond the beach has picnic tables and shade trees. Officially, cars need an $11 Michigan "Passport" for entry.

Park is very clean. Spacious sites. Good fishing; trails and area to bring your horse. Canoe & paddle boats to rent, beach is large. Great park

We stayed here as an overnight stop on the way home from northern Michigan. When considering spaciousness and ease of maneuvering, this campground was the best of the three that we visited in Michigan. Sites have paved pads and are generally level, and often separated by a row of trees or bushes for privacy. There is a nice, spacious beach on the man-made lake. Be prepared to take it slow and easy - part of the road leading into the park is in terrible condition. Also be wary of GPS - it might try to direct you to the north side of the park property where there are gravel roads and no entry to the property.

If you like to camp, fish, hike, or horseback ride, this is a great place for you. We’re campers and the sites are many, clean, and spacious. A haven for equestrians, since they have a special section just for them! We’ve been there a couple times and can recommend it without hesitation.
