If you are in the Ortonville area, Cooks Ice-cream is worth the stop. Portions are HUGE! and you can walk around to visit the animals.
Nice place to go for some ice cream especially with the kids in nice weather. They have special events around Halloween.
I have consumed the various ice creams on and off here in excess of 20 years. This use to be the place to go if you wanted really good ice cream products. I have noticed lately the quantities of anything ordered are much smaller, yet the prices have increased greatly. They also offer other in house made dairy products, which I would say are no better than a name brand product, yet they cost more. It is still an "okay" place, but it use to be an establishment you would go out of your way for.
I've been going here for years to buy local, hormone free milk and ice cream. The kids love to see the cows who are well taken care of. The ice cream is fabulous and they sell meat, cheese, eggs and a few other items. Also they have a drive-through window for milk!
Great opportunity for kids of all ages to realize where the ice cream actually comes from. Not only can you get the best ice cream in Michigan, you can roam the grounds, get licked by a cow and watch the milking process. Of course there is a slight odor when being that close to live farm animals, but since I grew up on a farm it smells like money to me.
If you like ice cream then this is the place to go. I always stop here when down for the summer cars shows.this is a busy spot so be prepared to stand in line but trust me the wait is worth it
My co-workers were constantly ranting and raving about Cooks Daily Farm. Therefore a group of us decided to visit. I didn't see anything special about it....its a farm. I did purchase a holiday butter that I thought was unique since it was shaped for tge season. Planned to aer out for a holiday dinner. Unfortunately it had hair in it so I tossed it in the trash. I am not impressed and would probably not visit again.
This is a throw-back in time...a great place to take the kids, visit the cows and enjoy delicious home-made ice cream. Oh, and the servings are not small. The also sell their own dairy products (milk, cheese, and ground beef).
This place is a great quick stop. Top notch ice cream!!!! Nice to be able to grab a quick snack and take a walk and look at cows, pigs and some baby cows as well. Great place to stop if in the area.
Their ice cream is so good. I love the chocolate milk it's the best. The fall pumpkin patch is great for the family. They have hayrides out to the pumpkin patch you chose your pumpkin and come back for a cup of chocolate milk. The kids can see the cows and pigs and there is usually a barn cat or 2 hanging around.
Friendly service too ... kids loved coming here and now bringing the grand kids as well. Not to far away, but far enough to be an adventure if you wish.
Not a place a tourist would go to but just in case...this dairy farm sells the best ice cream. Fresh and creamy with quite a few delicious flavor choices. Single servings in a cone or dish are huge and so good. You can wander out back to visit with the cows if you'd like. They are open in the evenings.
Have bought all our milk from Cook's for about 30 years. Fresh, no added hormones. LOVE their real chocolate milk for a treat and eggnog in season. High quality ice cream. Frequently stop over for a huge icecream cone.
Locally owned working dairy farm, been there for 30 plus years. Best place to by the freshest best tasting milk, ice cream and other dairy products in the area. Everything homemade. Drive through window to just get products but it's better to stop with the kids and walk around the barnyard area and see the cows, calves and other farm animals. Covered pavilion for shelter if it rains or to sit while the kids run around. Good experience for city kids. Watch out for the smell of manure, it can be strong on a warm day, but, that's the nature of a farm.
Thai is the best place for ice cream. All ice cream is made on premises. Great place to bring kids to see/pet cows, calfs, pigs. Whenever e we have out,of town guest they always ask us to take them there as they remember from previous visits. There scoops of ice cream are huge so watch how you order.
