robidoux row museum

We did a drive by with a tour guide and didn't get to see inside. The row is significant because it was kept from being destroyed and the building is one of the older in St. Joseph.

It's a small museum but interesting. I like it when the curators are passionate about their places. It doesn't get many visitors but they are appreciative. Interesting story behind the place.

Great history of trapping, fur traders who settled the area and so much to see. It's an unpretentious museum in a not so great neighborhood but is a must see! We thoroughly enjoyed the artifacts, tour guide and exhibits in such a relaxed atmosphere!

This was a great little museum on the founder of St. Joseph. Amazing that the building is still holding up. Has some of the original wood floor boards still intact. Joseph Robidoux died in this house in the 1850's. Wonder if his ghost is still here?

Visited the museum at the 30th Birthday of the rehabilitation and preservation of the building. This building was built by Joseph Robidoux, founder of St Joseph. He built this building to house travelers headed west from St Joseph. The museum has interesting artifacts and information about the founder's family and life in 19th century St Joseph. The size of rooms that housed whole families and the "commons" room with the only fireplace in the structure are very interesting.The lower level can be utilized for meetings and social events as there are kitchen facilities. Weddings have been performed in the beautiful garden located north of the building. This is an important building in the history of St Joseph and deserves to be visited by more people for a glimpse of everyday 19th century life.
