This park is gross and dirty. It is reflective of the area!! I wouldn't recommend this park or this city as a visitor stop in.

If you want to see the fall colors at its glory, taking a meandering drive through historical tunnels and ending at a beautiful lake to feed the fish and duck Krug Park is the place to visit. Do not forget to take a picnic lunch with u or a basket of cheese and goodies for a romantic meal in the castle. This place is gorgeous .

We take our children to Krug Park and they love it! The park is always clean and well maintained. It also helps that there are plenty of trees for shade and stuff for older children to do. The only downside is the traffic that is constantly driving by (usually super fast). I think it would be beneficial to put in speed bumps before and after the park because it is so close to the road.

This was my first trip to St. Joe. We went to visit my fiancé's parents and sister. They figured it was something I should see. It was very scenic and beautiful. Great place to go for a long drive and stop and take photos along the way! We actually went back later that week and had a picnic for dinner with my fiancé and his family. It was a lot of fun. There is an area with buffalo and a longhorn. Great place for people of all ages!

this park, while great to visit all year round with a large pond where you can feed the geese, long horns and buffalo to see as well as an amphitheater, old castle building with tunnels to drive through and playgrounds for the kids, it is even better during the holiday season. The city crews spend many hours decorating and lighting the park with Christmas lights and decorations for all to enjoy while driving through the oneway road each evening.

Krug Park is a classic old city park built back at the very beginning of the 20th century -- very large (160 + acres) buildings with ornate architecture, nice shelter houses, miles of hiking/biking trails, a very small zoo, rose gardens . . . the picture of Victorian opulence. It also presents a problem for city maintenance, in that the local vandal community doesn't seem to allow decent restrooms to be kept there. Aside from that, it's a beautiful old park, and the city does the best they can with it, but the restrooms are a challenge.

Having seen Krug Park several times a year for nearly 30 years I can say I know it in and out, and have seen countless changes over that time. After moving away for several years, however, I was able to bring back someone who had never seen it before helping give a fresh perspective to it. So with fresh eyes, I can say that it still has the overall same beauty and charm it always has, and is something well worth driving through and stopping to take pictures along the way. From an older perspective, I will say that I do miss some of the things that have come on gone: goose island, paddle boats, horse drawn carriages... but there are some friendly long horns worth visiting, as well as seeing buffalo closer than you ever will anyplace else.

First let me say that St Joseph, MO is a city if parks. Krug Park, is located at the northern end of the Parkway. It is a large (163 acre) city park with Italian Renaissance structures, an amphitheater, a lagoon, extensive landscaping and flowerbeds, as well as a North American native animal exhibits that include buffalo, deer, and longhorn cattle . Each December, Krug Park becomes a holiday wonderland. Lighted arches, trees, winter scenes and other adornments slow traffic in the evening hours as 100,000 people come to see the lights each year. Abutting Krug Park are St Joseph’s Parkways, a system that is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The Parkways were developed just after the First World War. The landscape architect was George Burnap St. Joseph's Parkway. As well as having curving roads, they have outdoor sculpture, walking and biking trails and summer concerts. I have been in the summer and in the winter and the parks relax you up after driving though the usual American ugly mall-lined major roads, such as the Beltway.

As a child we would go to this park on many a Saturday for our family picnics. We moved from St. Joe many years ago, but now 50 years later I still enjoy the drive thru the park and the relaxing atmosphere it brings as we come back on vacations. It is a must go to when I am in St. Joe.

This park had a few animals for the kids to see and some equipment for the kids to play on as well as a lake. A nice drive on a One Way road.

Krug Park has been a part of my family for many years. My grandfather was a brick mason and helped put up the first stone fence at the base of the pond. It is no longer there being replaced many years ago. Krug Park also was where we went for family reunion picnics. The bowl is naturally. It has been developed for music in the park. Krug park is old and run down but full of history both for St Joseph and my family.

People from the St. Joseph area love this park. That said, if you are from any other area you might find yourself wondering what all the hype is about. Krug Park is a strange place with its castle-like buildings and tunnels (It has a very interesting history actually). As far as a park to play with your family it is very dirty and run down. The pond is very very dirty... Green-brown and smells on a hot day. The "ducks" everyone refers to are geese and their poop is everywhere. Watch your step. There is some very old and unsafe equipment. Some new things have been added in recent years but nothing state-of-the-art like I've seen in playgrounds in Iowa and Minnesota. Tax dollars are what they are in this town. Unfortunately this is the best they can do with what they've got.
