My husband and I took this 2 (actually 2 1/2 hours) hour trip (just the two of us) and really enjoyed the ride, the interesting stories, and the chance to see this area by boat. We learned a lot about the grasses, birds, water and the political struggles to save the acres of swamp, bayous, rivers, and lake. Fun and informative. And on the way back, when the boat was moving fast, he even provided a blanket. The chairs were comfortable and it was easy to climb on the boat. We would recommend it to anyone.
Had a blast in the swamp kayaking. Learned a lot about the native species to the area and the Forrest. Would recommend this to anyone that visits southern Mississippi.
Had a great time kayaking in the swap with my wife and Jeff as our tour guide. Jeff was very knowledgeable on the animals in the swamp and the forest. Would recommend this tour to anyone that does and visits southern Mississippi.
I had a nice solo trip with Jeff and Kathy. They are both very knowledgeable about the birds and grasses (and nutria!). I also talked to them about Katrina and the oil spill. It was a great introduction to Mississippi. Jeff also runs a non-profit, Coastal Rivers, that helps keep the rivers clean. Good people.
We had a wonderful paddle in a beautiful swamp. The cypress trees were just magnificent. Jeff and Kathy are very informative guides. And you can tell that they love what they do and have a real heart for the area. I learned a lot. My granddaughters really enjoyed it as well. We saw endangered turtles and some nice bird life. I highly recommend this tour. We took the 3 hour kayak swamp tour.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 hour trip on the bayous and waterways. Captain Jeff promptly returned our call and was able to accommodate our schedule. The information provided was very interesting. The scenery was beautiful and the boat ride was great. The chairs provided are comfortable and sturdy for a 2hr trip. (Actually the trip was around 2 1/2 hours). The cost is more than reasonable for such a great time. We look forward to trying a different tour on our next trip to Biloxi. This experience was absolutely the highlight of our vacation. We highly recommend it.
We took the 5:30 pm tour and had a magnificent sunset at 7:15 pm. Prior to sunset the shadows of trees and light on the water were breathtaking. Our Captain pointed out various species of birds and plants and trees. We would like to take this tour again in the spring to see the baby birds.
Took a tour of with Eco Tours of South Mississippi up into the bayous and swamps of the Pascagoula river. What a great experience. We booked an 11:00am, 2 hour tour that took us on a 21 mile boat ride, up from the City Park in Gautier, under the I-10 bridge, and into the fresh water swamps. Saw many birds, and turtles. The osprey were nesting and got some fabulous photos of them at their nests. The tour guide was fantastic, pointing out history of the area, slowing down for pictures of the birds and any other wildlife, pointing out different flora along the way. Had a wonderful time, and would recommend this to anyone (and want to go again and do their tour that puts you into kayaks in the swamp).
We had a nice Ecotour, in April 2013. We left messages when making the reservation, and they were returned quickly. Six of us arrived on a nice April day. We boarded a sweet little green boat, that had a covered top that sit 6 adults. The boat was perfect for getting up close with the flowers and nice birds. A couple saw an alligator, but I completely missed that part. The boat Captain stopped the boat so we could zoom in on the beautiful nesting osprey. We saw red-winged black birds, green and blue herons, turtles, yellow warblers, and the sign of the first spring flowers, popping out of the first swamp lily. The tour was for 2 hours, but as our interest peaked, the Captain generously went over that time. The Captain was very knowledgable in the ornithology of that area. Our favorite spot was Whiskey bayou the beauty of the swamp was breathtaking..the peace and calm of the bayou was very peaceful. I think the tour was very personable. The Captain and her husband are very devoted to clean-up of the river which is the longest unimpeded river in the lower 48. Go and have fun!
We had a lovely sunset boat ride from Gautier to Pascagoula at sunset. It was a bit chilly that February evening, but the wonderful boat Captain had blankets for us. She slowed down for photos. We saw all sorts of local birds, and toward then end even saw dolphins up close. It was a great way to experience the natural side of Mississippi. She gave us some history and nature facts. It was fantastic. Use the bathroom at the park facilities before or after the trip. They also offer swamp tours.
