I' m always interested in seeing a lighthouse when possible. From Easton Point Beach, you are able to see the New London Harbor Light, the New London Ledge Light, and the top of the Avery Lighthouse. This location offered some pretty good photo opportunities as well. It was also free to stop and park. From here, if you drive another mile or two, you would be on the Uconn campus and could park and walk a short distance to the Avery Point Lighthouse. You are rewarded with great photo opportunities from here as well. Easton point beach and Avery point are definitely places to stop if you are in to seeing lighthouses.

Happened to be out for a drive and came across this beach. Was closed for the season but I will go there in the summer. There are some Great sights and plenty of parking.

I saw the reviews on this site and thought that this would be a nice beach. But when we got there we had already paid and we saw that there was no waves and we really wanted to go body boarding. So my mom asked for a refund and the lady wouldn't give us a refund when we didn't even go in the water or anything!

This more more of a cove than a true beach with waves. The sand is soft and the beach is clean. There is a playground right behind the beach area that includes basketball courts. Great place for kids to explore the beach without fear of crashing waves or riptide. The snack bar has some of the cheapest prices I have ever seen. Hot dogs for $1.50. Parking for the day runs between $10 and $20 depending on day.

A nice place to spend a few quiet hours by yourself or with your family. It is usually not over crowded. There is a small food stand there also.

The last time I was there I was impressed with how quiet and peaceful it is. You can sit or lie on the sand , sit on the rocks or go under the shelter. The view of New London light house and out into Long Island Sound is gorgeous.

This is really a small beach for locals. A little playground is there as well. Not a place that you go out of your way to visit.

Never closed, with the exception of overnight, and as with most beaches some days are crowded. Beach fees are charged , daily or in a variety of passes, during the summer season which ends after Labor day. The lovely stone building at water's edge houses showers, restrooms and a family operated concession that offers a variety of tasty foods and ice cream treats. Sand is fine and clean. Outside showers available. Children have a great time trying to capture crabs to carry in their buckets. Views of the Thames River and Long Island Sound are worth checking out to possibly see a submarine returning home from duty or running a trial. No dogs allowed year round. Seabirds abound.

This is a nice little beach that we live down the street from. It has a playground for the kids and the water is nice.

The white sand on this beach is very fine, with no rocks. Your feet actually sink into it while you walk, not like the common dense-sand beaches. The parking lot includes spaces of which you can sit and look out into the ocean. There is walkway around three sides of the parking lot, one of which has picnic tables next to the water. There are also benches behind a vintage mansion which overlook the water. This is a great place to either go to the actual beach or simply relax on the grounds. There is a parking fee in-season.

Eastern Pt., has some history of it's own. During the British invasion under Benedict Arnold, the beach is where the British stormed on Groton's side of New London to secretly attack Fort Griswold. There is plenty of beach for sun bathers and a play ground for the kids. If you want to swing on the beach; they have them. Also, Eastern Pt. has a great view of the Sound, Ledge Light House, and New London Light House. A concession stand and restrooms which are open during the summer, and plenty of parking. Unfortunately, the beach is not Free, Locals have to purchase a seasonal pass or pay a daily fee as well as non-residents.

Visitors are required to have City of Groton stickers to visit this beach. But it is THE Groton City beach and is well used by the City residents.
