Have gone there for years before Internet. Put it on the bucket list. Along with rhinebeck aerodrome. My father knew cole palen and gave him many things for his museum. Went many times as a kid. Don't miss out on these 2 sites. Part of history.

What a pleasant visit. It was like going back in time to see vintage sports cars driving on the beautiful Lime Rock Track. Very friendly people all working to keep the history of these great automobiles accessible to everyone.

I've been coming here for years now and it just keeps getting better and better. They've added so much for the fans convenience, from shuttles to bouncy houses to higher end experiences. I usually just bring chairs and a cooler and set up on the hill near the esses which is right near concessions and the bathrooms and a couple of big trees in case of a shower. This year however i sprung for the VIP package to appease the not-so-die-hard fans in my family. It was in a large tent overlooking the main straight with linen covered tables and chairs, waitstaff and a full compliment of meals for the day. Breakfast was continental style and just ok, but the buffet lunch was outstanding. Chicken almondine, stuffed filet of sole, salad, vegetables...first class! It also included unlimited beer and wine and a dessert hour with all kins of cookies and candy. But the best part was the air conditioned toilets; a godsend on a hot day. It wasn't cheap at $260 for two adults and one ten year old, but it was worth it IMHO. At the track, you owe it to yourself to walk the perimeter of the fencing and follow the circuit layout during a race. You see so much more that way and can see how others set up for camping should you decide to go that route your next visit. The beautiful thing about the place is you are also allowed up close access to the cars and drivers in the paddock area (pits are off limits usually).In fact, when i was about 8 years old, a driver with the name P.L.Newman on his car asked me if i would like to watch the race from the top of his motorhome after I stopped with my father to look at his 240Z. Every year, at least one driver invites my daughter to sit in a race car for photos; does pro baseball/football, etc. ever invite you to the sideline/dugout/etc between innings/quarters? Hell no! At the historics, you get to stand next to the holy grails of machinery; GTO's (Ferrari), 935's, Cobras, XK-E's, Bugattis, Stutz's, etc. It's intoxicating for any gearhead, and interests even the novice fan. It's not without it's underbelly though; I saw someone die in a crash this past labor day and it will be forever burned into my memory. It was tough to watch, but he died doing what he loved; how many of us will be able to say that? I recommend a trip here highly and CT wine trail is nearby as well. One of the best vintage weekends in the country. Beautiful track with many quality viewing areas. Not sure we have ever been treated as well, as competitors, at any track in the country. Great concours on Sunday. Couldn't ask for more. Even the track food was good and not out of $ reach.

One of the most beautiful race tracks in the East. It's a Park! Lots of grass and seating on the hill provides a great view of part of the front straight, Big Bend, and the Esses.

I've been here a few times, and never have I failed to be impressed by the great groundskeeping and scenic beauty. No place will you have better access to the track or pits, the food is fine, and the little things they do, like autograph sessions and manufacturer test drives keep you busy between the races. Camping is fun, you'll meet and party with your neighbors, raise some hell, and get up the next day ready for more. Buy the tickets and camping 2 weeks in advance, save some money, and get ready for fun times.

I have been visiting Lime Rock Park for well over 25 years. The country setting, no grandstands, great road racing, the ability to get up and close to the race cars and drivers in the paddock are some of the high points. I have camped there often and especially during the historic festival weekend, rolling out of the tent or camper, seeing the fog lifting off the track and surrounding hills and hearing the sound of the old engines firing up, reminds me of the opening sequence of LeMans (the movie). A leisurely walk through the paddock sees the early morning activities of race teams finishing up the work they've been doing all night or checking on what may need to be done. The smell of race fuel permeates the air... it is truly exhilarating. Over the years the camping experience has gotten better by having more restrooms/porta-potties available and the availability of shower trucks now. A quick perusal of their site shows several options for ticket purchases, although prices have gone steadily up. Purchasing in advance really does save quite a bit of money. From a spectator point of view, the only real negative is the food handled by LRP Catering. They still haven't seemed to be able to understand food service. They are most often understaffed and under-supplied, usually running out some staple item on the menu. The other food vendors throughout seem to have a better handle on the needs of a large racing public. From a participant viewpoint, especially during their car shows, there could really be a bit more organization as to where one is supposed to go, park, etc. Getting 3 different directions from three different people had people driving in circles amidst pedestrians. Not safe and gets the drivers a bit agitated.Overall, if this wasn't one of the best places to enjoy racing, I wouldn't keep coming here after 25 years.

The ride to the track was pleasant and the roads were surprisingly in great shape. Its really out in the woods so be prepared to bring your own creature comforts. The surrounding countryside make for a peaceful atmosphere in a family freindly race setting . Although I did hear a few kids say they were bored they quickly were rolling down the hill and kicking soccer balls while their parents enjoyed the racing. It was nice to walk through the paddock area and not have to pay an extra charge . The swap meet had interesting race related items and the midway also was tailored for the race enthusiasts. It was nice to side on the hill ( no grandstands here) with a cooler and some snacks and just enjoy a great day at the track. The only negative thing I can find to say is no rest rooms , just port a potties, bring hand sanatizer.

Lime Rock Park, the road racing track in the Northeast corner of CT, offers a number of racing events during the year, but on Labor Day weekend each year they host their Historic Festival which includes a number of activities over a 4 day period.Friday - qualifying and practice of a number of classes of vintage & classic sports and race cars. Saturday - qualifyingSunday - their annual Historic Festival which includes an auto show grouping virtually every manufacturer of vintage and classic sports and racing cars which are parked along both sides of the track covering approx. 1.5 mi. It begins at 9am and ends around 5pm with judging ceremony of entered cars. There is also a significant automotive Swap Meet taking place all day. Monday - many classes of racing from 10am until 4pm or soI have enjoyed this festival several times in the past, typically I reserve a campsite inside the track, arrive Thursday afternoon and leave Monday. They offer a surprisingly enjoyable campground with bathrooms and even showers which are brought in with 4 per trailer, some of the nicest showers I've ever bathed in while camping.They have a variety of food sources during the day, especially race day and Sunday. Whether camping or not you can bring a picnic basket and the kids as there are no grandstands, don't forget comfortable folding chairs!

Lovely park for racing nestled in the mountains in an idyllic location. Will be back, love this place and staff was top notch!

I have been coming to Lime rock each year for the last 4-5 years and always truly enjoy the experience. The park is beautiful on a sping/summer day. The races are always interesting and the announcers keep everything lively and engaging. Walking around the paddock area and getting close to the pits is a thrilling experience. My 2 boys always enjoy the time there and talk about it with all their friends. They ask every year to go back. We just saw the Memorial day race. We will be back again this year and for years to come. If you are in Connecticut, you have to visit this place.

The last time I attended a race at Lime Rock Park was in the sixties, just a few years after it's opening. The experience was incredible; fans were allowed in the paddock area to rub shoulders with the drivers and their crews and see the cars being worked on. The prime race viewing location was on a blanket on the hillside overlooking the esses. It was a race fan's paradise. This year I attended the Continental Tire Challenge/Porsche GT3 Cup Series. To my delight, the experience was again incredible. Same access, great staff and incredible racing! I'll certainly be returning more often.

Had such a nice time zooming around the track last year. Our instructor was very helpful and patient. I will return again this summer!

very fun spot to spend a summer day. There is nothing like spending a day at the track at the summer. The food is delicious as well.

The first thing you notice about Lime Rock Park is that it is an extremely spectator friendly venue. Not only can you sit basically anywhere around the track to watch the race, you can bring food, drinks, popup tents etc. There are also campgrounds for those extreme fans that spend a whole weekend at the races or bring their RV. Fans are allowed full access to the paddock where you can see the track cars right up close and have conversations with the crewmembers. During the American LeMans Series Races (which are televised on Speed TV and ESPN), spectators can actually walk out on to the track staging area and talk to the drives and see the cars before the races start.This track is a special place where the race enthusiast can get immursed in the event and get an up close and personal experience. There is no cell signal up there as well so there are basically no distractions to a full day at the races.
