If you are at all curious about the history of Connecticut industry, the design of commercial and consumer appliances or the technology of the past, this small museum is worth a visit. Located right downtown in the ITBD building, the collection is open to all for free. If you're lucky, the museum's sole employee, Karen, will give you a personal tour. A better docent you will never find. The collection of old Stanley tools is amazing, but so too are the many other kitchen and home devices made in New Britain over the years, right up to the present. The place is very kid-friendly and there's so much to see!
This is a great museum for learning about the true meaning of why New Britain is known as the Hardware City! There are displays from all of the major manufacturers in the heyday of New Britain. The staff is informative and provide answers to any questions you may have. Don't miss this gem in New Britain. It's definitely a must see!!
