A visit to Hopkins brings you back to the day of farms. Beautiful area. The wines are nice, I like the Night Owl dessert wine, After the tasting we went upstairs for a glass of wine -I had Westwind which is refreshing. The upstairs area is very nice and cozy. There are many items to purchase too. The black iron stove kept the building roasty toasty warm.

Had a lovely time here on Valentines day. It was snowing heavily but the place was packed. We booked in advance and the $55 for two was good value including their sparking wine and a cheese/meat/chutney platter, and live music. Having visited here some time ago, I am pleased to report the food is much improved, as cheeses, meat and bread are now all locally sourced and way better than previous offerings.

All the wines tasted were great... of course my favorite wine was the "Ice Wine" (Expensive but sooo good) Met with the owner and she was very nice. These wines are the ones I purchase for our Liquor Store in Southbury, CT ~ Sachem’s Picnic WAS DELIGHTFUL, Westwind WAS A REFRESHING WHITE WINE, AND DUET WAS A DRY, CRISP WHITE WINE. ALL WINES WERE GOOD BUT THESE i had to buy A CASE OF ALL OF THEM.

Stopped at Hopkins Vineyard at the height of leaf peeping season which is a double edged sword. The place was packed with tourists, but the views and atmosphere more than made up for the crowds. We took in the ground floor tasting room and opted to buy two bottles of wine for our group of four as the tasting counters were crowded. The upstairs wine and cheese loft was very nice on my walkthrough, but seating was unavailable, nice jazz trio as well. We ended up taking the wine with provided cups down to the Hopkins Inn deck and had nice time sipping our wine overlooking Lake Waramaug. Great place and views no matter what the season. Service was rushed and curt, but they get a pass due to the crowds.

Stopped here with friends to look around the winery and have a light lunch at the inn which came highly rated. It was a warm October afternoon so sat outside and ordered French onion soup and garlic bread. Both were very good, the service seemed a little disjointed and short staffed. The half carafe of wine is very generous. Both of our female guests were drunk after finishing it. The restaurant has a German theme to the food which is unusual in a good way

During autumn leaf season our family toured the Hopkins Vineyard, We found great wines and snacks to sit under a tree on a picnic table and enjoy the day a lake at the bottom of the hill and the Litchfield hills above. Just great.

We met friends for a wine tasting, and found the experience to be lots of fun. This vineyard is located on a hillside overlooking scienic Lake Waramaug, and the day we went the weather was warm and brilliant. The wines produced here range from respectable whites and reds to ice wine. The winery has a great little selection of wine related gifts as well. Pick up some as gifts for your oenophile friends; you'll want to save the wine to drink yourself.

Decided to check out the Harmony in the Hills event held here this weekend after reading about it online. Hopkins Vineyards sits on the side of Lake Waramaug and offers some beautiful views of the NE section of the lake. The event this weekend featured live music, a BBQ, wine sampling, and a fire dancer at dusk. The admission was $20 which included a souvenir wine glass, and 6 tickets that could be used for 6 individual samplings (or you could use 3 tickets for a half glass of wine, or all 6 tickets for a full glass of wine). I sampled 2 of the reds and one of the whites, and decided to cash in the remainder of my chips for a half glass of the Cabernet Franc, which was quite good. Our sampler server told me and my guest that if we wanted more wine, we could purchase it for $5 a glass at a separate area under the event tent. We decided to buy a couple more glasses. I requested another glass of the Cab Franc and got my $5 ready to purchase it. After pouring the glass, the server said "that will be $11.50". Since they had no signs posting the costs for purchasing glasses of wine, I was going on what I had been told during the samplings, expecting to pay $5. The wine was good but not THAT GOOD. And the fact that they were selling it in their store for about $24 a bottle, they were charging me an additional 100% premium considering that one glass from a purchased bottle would be about $6. After a bit of back and forth, I was given the glass for the $5 I was originally told. It turned out that none of the wine could be purchased for $5 a glass, and each wine was a different price. Since a lot of people may be trying their wine for the first time, this was an opportunity to build their customer base. It would have been one thing if all of the prices had been posted, but they weren't. I had the opportunity to talk to a couple other attendees and they too were not happy about the prices they were charging for a glass, which they found out only after the wine had been poured. The rest of the event was quite pleasant however, and the food offered for purchase at the BBQ was a much better value than the wine. The female fire dancer was entertaining as a finale to the event Saturday evening. The only suggestion I would make is to post the per glass prices ahead of the purchase, so that customers don't leave the event with a bad aftertaste to an otherwise nice event.

The property is beautiful and the staff is so helpful! Their Sachem's Picnic wine has been a favorite of ours for years.

This vineyard was a dairy farm until about 35 years ago. The Hopkins Family has owned and worked the land for more than 200 years. Now the old dairy barn has been updated and modernized (including A/C) for daily wine-tastings and tours of the working areas. The tasting room is large and nicely decorated, with plenty of wine-related items on sale. How about a wine bag made from recycled and biodegradable materials, into which have been imbedded wildflower seeds? Buy a bottle and a bag and give it to a friend, and he or she will have a gift that keeps on giving. Speaking of the wines, there is a difference of opinion, depending on one's taste. Although some have won awards, I would say that some are good, not great, but good. The views, physical plant, and events make this winery a nice place to visit.

This winery is located in a beautiful area. Very nice wine tasting area. Only problem....wine wasn't. very good. One of the few wineries where we didn't.t buy one bottle.

My husband and I visited Hopkins Vineyard a few days ago as we were in the area on a day trip visiting Kent. We looked for local vineyards and Hopkins was close, had great reviews, and was open on Mondays (where many vineyards in CT are not). What an experience on all levels. First, the location is absolutely GORGEOUS overlooking the lake and behind the beautiful wine tasting room/shop is a peaceful outdoor area under trees next to a pond where you can take your wine and relax. The wines were very good - their ice wine is the superstar and has won many awards. We bought a few bottles of white as well. The Hopkins Inn is right across the road and next time we visit, we will plan to have lunch there on their gorgeous outdoor patio and then visit the winery. I felt such a sense of peace in this location and we should be proud CT has a vineyard like this for us to experience and enjoy!!!

Loved it! Have been for the past 3 years and love the wine, the music and the food! Brought along my son and his girlfriend. So beautiful! Recommend highly!

During a recent stay in New Milford we ventured to Hopkins as well as White Silo Farm & Winery. While, I prefer White Silo for his charm. Hopkins is definitely worth a visit. I am admittedly not a big wine drinker so apart from the fact that I enjoyed the Peach Wine and trying Ice Wine for the first time was pretty cool as we had previously been told about the extensive process, I cant really judge the wine aside from it was good for me. This place compared to White Silo is definitely more commercial. There is an upper floor for dining and an extensive gift shop which i feel detracts a little from the experience as its right next to the tasting area. This place is right on a lake though so the views and overall experience are definitely worth a visit. The staff was friendly and helpful as well.

I would rate it above average, like the better vineyards we've been to with mostly good wines, but really only 2 or 3 you want to buy. That's not a bad thing, it was pretty good wine and the prices are very good. It's probably one of the best bang-for-your-buck vineyards.
