This is such a special place in a unique setting! The art is constantly new and exciting. I love watching artists at work and they are all friendly and willing to talk with me. Be sure and check the hours before visiting, they are a little unusual, but plan ahead and make sure you don't miss out on this place.

On our first visit to Abingdon, VA, we came here to look at the works of local artists. This runs like a co-op. There was a ceramic artist, a weaver, a portrait painter, and a retired nurse who made multi-media works. This place is very clean compared to many artist places we have visited, and there is a good sample of the works of the local artists.

It's easy to miss the Arts Depot: It's tucked away in a little building at the corner of Depot Square, but once you discover it you'll want to come back! It contains the studios of working artists who don't mind to talk with you about their work, all of which is unique and cool! The Arts Depot has galleries as well. It's a must-see, even if you're not a huge art person and are just looking for an interesting, free place to visit.

Friendly staff with a nice selection of local artists. We enjoyed the diversity of the work and information about the artists provided by the staff.

We always enjoy touring the Art Depot and looking at the works by the various artists in residence but we were in Abingdon on a Monday and Tuesday when they were closed . . . in August . .. tourist season . . . REALLY? But then again we went to 6 restaurants before we found one open for lunch on Monday. We almost had to eat at fast food . . . I understand short hours in the off season but this town lives on tourists . . bikers, hikers, theatre patrons, antique shoppers etc.

The Art Depot is a decent place to go view some local art. As such, it's pretty small, but they try. The artwork quality ranges from dreadful to surprisingly decent and much of it's for sale. They also have artist studios, where you can buy works, and meet the resident artists. We went during the Virginia Highlands Festival this past weekend and enjoyed it. It's in an unassuming building, but that's fine -- it doesn't have to be pristine. It's also free, so that's good. When visiting Abingdon, this isn't a bad place to check out and it won't take much of your time. Recommended.

This building is a nice collection of artists' studios, where you can visit their work area as well as buy the work they had for sale. I visited the gallery during the Virginia Highland Festival to view the art that had been entered in the juried art competition. The building is well maintained and clean. The studios are quaint and full of art for sale.
