Right in the neighborhood of the presidential homes of Monticello, Ash Lawn-Highland, and Montpelier is the rustic cabin retreat of the Theodore Roosevelt family. Purchased by Edith as a getaway for TR and the family, it gives another glimpse into this fascinating family. You must call for an appointment to visit the cabin. Fittingly, it is down a lane off a gravel road--no fancy entrance here. An excellent tour was provided by the docent who met us at the gate. A worthy addition to Virginia's presidential sites. A donation is suggested in lieu of an admission fee.
