This theater has been around since 1954 and the people who work here have a great camaraderie with each other. Well, most of the time. They work well together and perform some outstanding productions! The musicals seem to be the best hits of the year. Acting is always great, casting is consistently good to great, costumes are great, sets are wonderful, seating is surprisingly comfortable for outdoor seating, audio system and lighting are great. The audience always arrives happy and excited to be there. A lot of them have gotten to know each other over the years. The only consistent weakness is the selection of plays. Some are great, but sometimes you notice a good bit of the audience leaving at the intermission. These tend to be the ones with the F-bomb exploding and adultery and fighting going on. I understand that these were award-winning Broadway plays back in the day, but there is a weird juxtaposition to the idyllic outdoor grove setting that just doesn't fit. When I go here, I want to be uplifted. I have unfortunately seen enough of these negative plays that I will read the reviews more carefully in the future. Only season passes are sold. You can go with a member on a space available basis the night of the performance for $15. Five plays in the season for $50 is a great deal, even if you don't go to all of them. Many people buy several extra tickets so their friends can go with them.
