If you have Mil ID, stop here! Their BX has good deals on CG items and it provides a beautiful drive around base in which you may even see deers and the like. I go here often :)

Spent two weeks training at center as a civilian, stayed on base to experience what the coasties do. Good food at Port of York, Galley and Subway. Enjoyed friendship at Libery Lounge. Lodging with coasties has few amenities but hey, wanted to experience it. Give your servicemen and women our support they deserve it. Instructors and training facilities are first rate!!

We drove thru the base and stopped at the exchange. The scenery is beautiful and I felt proud of our military for keeping such high standards for our coasties. The prices at the exchage were more expensive than I thought they would be.

I hope we were not COMPLETELY misled when we were told there has been NO access to the training center since 9/11/01. My brother had trained at Yorktown with the Coast Guard and was SO in hopes of being able to see it again...or at least a visitor's center for it.We asked several people during out trip and were told by everyone that there was no public access at all! Maybe Trip Advisor should check into this and see if this should just be removed from the list. If somehow we were misled, I don't think I even want my brother to know!
