Abundant and interesting artifacts from Monroe's personal and political life. Well-presented with helpful information from the staff.

Enjoy keeping up with the past presidents. Didn't get too much out of this visit. Maybe there isn't much on President Monroe. Enjoyed what I saw and learned a little. Just not over the top impressive. Glad I went though.

If you don't know much about our 5th president, this is a great little but informative museum to visit. Does not take long to walk through and they have many items of Monroe's that have been preserved such as the desk he wrote the Monroe Doctrine on, two chairs he bought from the Russian Ambassador when Monroe was moving into his new home and needed furniture. There are other various things that the history nerd in you will enjoy. Worth the visit.

They main attraction is the desk that Monroe used to write the Monroe Doctrine. Also they did have two vests that Monroe wore one for his wedding and one while he was in college. The house consists of 4 small rooms, guess I was expecting more artifacts. The cost is $5.00 per person to tour the small museum.

This is the law office of James Monroe and is worth a visit for that reason alone. It is quaint and informative in the heart of historic downtown Fredricksburg.

The tour is informative and fascinating, and the collection is worth the visit. There are original clothes worn by Monroe, furniture that was used in the White House, original portraits, and much, much more. Very much worth a visit!

The building it self, is not the original building where he practiced law. A rebuilt building located in the area of the original building. It is small but nice to see and it is only $5.00, $4.00 for seniors.

Even if you are not a big fan of President Monroe, you can still see the office when he was a local lawyer. A very nice garden is on the property.

This is a surprisingly good museum tucked away in the historic district of Fredricksburg. Many of the artifacts were used by President Monroe in the White House including his writing desk.

Staff at museum was very friendly, fair amount of museum pieces and lots of information about James Monroe and family. Although we were interested in Civil War history this little piece of Revolutionary War history was welcoming.

What a wonderful little museum and you'll learn more history than you ever did in school! You won't be here for hours like a giant Smithsonian but it's authentic and interesting.

A fact-filled overview of the life of James Monroe. Suffice to say he was always where the action was: crossed the Delaware with Washington; at Napoleon's coronation; Valley Forge...yep, there too; ambassador to England and France...check!; Madison's secretary of state AND war during the British invasion of Washington...of course. You get the idea. An amazing life, unknown to most, presented by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. In addition to learning about Monroe's most interesting life, there is a small display of original clothing finery worn by him and his wife in such pristine condition they appear as if they were made yesterday.

This is a small museum but contains the largest collection of James Monroe's possessions. The museum was once thought to be where he practiced law but dating of the building's brick refuted that. So while the building itself was not one he worked in, the land the building is on was owned by Monroe... in case you're wondering why the location was chosen. The museum has on display several items Monroe wore, weapons, letters, furnishings, china, and a pretty good background on what kind of man he was and his career. The entrance fee is $5. You can opt to do a tour or guide yourself.

James Monroe, our nation's 5th president, began his illustrious career practicing law in Fredericksburg. He owned this house and practiced law in it from 1786-92. This museum has the largest collection of Monroe's personal possessions, furnishings and papers. We must say it was sad to see the adjacent cemetery in need of a lot of upkeep.

The museum visit was wonderful and there was a painting of James Monroe on the wall and as you walked around the room, it appeared that his eyes were watching you.
