I should probably keep this place secret, because the tastings can get crowded and make it tougher for me to get a beer! Fridays from 2-5 are the tastings, and currently the tours are at 3 and 4. They don't limit the number of times you can go back for your favorite beer, and make you feel welcome and appreciated for enjoying their product for FREE! My last visit, they had five of the beers on tap for the tasting. They have souvenirs for sale, including some pretty cool stuff. There are plans for a tasting room and beer garden which will open Thursday through Saturday. Personally, I can't wait. This just seems like a bunch of laid back people who really enjoy making great beer.
We lucked out as we were driving through the Hill Country, and happened to be driving through Blanco on a Friday. We made sure to hit up the Real Ale Brewing Company. They give free samples of their beers and take you on a tour of the brewery. It was definitely worth stopping by. The beer was great. They even came to the tour group halfway through the tour to fill up our glasses. They have a small shop with t-shirts, koozies and glasses with very reasonable prices. They will give you a sticker too!
If you are looking for a great tasting Texas brewed beer, look no further. Real Ale is the real thing. Fireman's 4 is the staple, but they have a large variety of other beers as well. If you are in town on Friday afternoons stop by for a tour and a sample. Otherwise, purchase your favorite at a local Texas retail outlet.
This place is awesome. Go on a Friday afternoon to do the tour and the tastings and make sure you try the rarer beers at the tasting (Sisyphus, Phoenix, etc). It's definitely one of the better brewery tours I've done and the beer is all amazing.
My hubby's been wanting to come for a while, so we made it just in time for a tour on Friday afternoon (there are no tours on the weekend). It was awesome, informative, and entertaining. We sampled different beers when we were done - White, Fireman's #4, Impremium, and the Brewmaster's Choice ... I preferred the White (I'm not much of a beer drinker unless it's a Radler/Shandy) and my hubby preferred the Impremium. Definitely recommend getting there in time for a tour!
Real Ale is pretty cool. By the time they opened the door at 2 there were about 75 people waiting. Unlimited samples, stickers, coasters and tour are all free. Doubling is size really soon-moving packaging out of older building into brand new building with brand new Krones 60-head filler that is still being installed. Old bottling line already sold and will be replaced by fermentation and aging tanks. Brewing 4-60 bbl batches 5 days a week and cannot keep up with demand from Texas only. Tour good. No off-sales. Blonde, pale rye, imperial black ale, barrel aged barley wine, pale ale. Barley wine was actually pretty good, brewer claimed that it was not inoculated but it was mildly sour. Imperial black ale is a collaboration beer with Surly and Three Floyds. Pretty tasty and will be looking for cans.
A great stop especially on Friday afternoons 3-5 pm. when you can sample some of the brew that has expanded it's base far beyond Texas. Their ales are fantastic!
One of the best micro-brewery tours I have been on. Watch your step and watch your head, you aren't just looking at the process from behind a rope or plate-glass window. Excellent ales as well.
The guide was friendly and the brewery has a small "family feel". We got to see the original tanks, the present operation with bottle line, cold storage( where we got to choose a bottle of beer!), and what will be the new canning operation. They are really beginning to grow. I think tours are limited to Fridays at 3 and 4. Stop back in town after the tour and have a piece of pie at the Bowling Club Café for some local color.
Open from 2-5 on Fridays with free tasings of 4 or 5 of their beers. Tours are offered at 3 and at 4. Our tour was led by the Brewmaster and he definitely loves what he does. They are making a wide variety of great beers and lagers.I always appreciate a tour of a small place (although this place is larger than I expected) that is led by someone who is not just a tour guide with a prepared script.
Arriving in Blanco on Friday, May 3 and we decided to go to the Real Ale Brewing Company on a tip from a local. It turns out they do tastings and a tour and we got to do both. I don't like beer but my sister and brother-in-law enjoyed the tasting and really like the beer. We then went on the tour with the brewmaster and he was very informative and you can tell he really enjoys his profession. It was a very educational tour with detailed explanations how to brew beer. They had t-shirts and glasses for sale. I bought my husband a Real Ale beer glass for $3 - a bargain indeed!! I highly recommend this if you are in the Blanco area on a Friday!
My girlfriends and I recently went to Blanco, TX for a girls weekend and signed up for a tour of the Real Ale Brewery. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly greeted and given a sample of beer. It was all peace and love from there on in! The tour was informative and the passion for beer exhibited by the staff was contagious! We had a great time and can't wait to go and visit again...maybe we'll even bring the guys along next time :) Did I mention the beer was great?!
Went here with a group of six family members for a free Friday tour. The tour guide was very passionate about brewing ale/beer. Up close, and personal tour with detailed explanations. Very educational and interesting. The tour was very full. Free samples available. I would recommend this if ales and beers interest you. (There are no stairs.)
Real Ale makes one of the best ambers in the Austin area. Check it out! These guys know their stuff. And be sure to stop and take in the view on CR 165 between Blanco and Henly!
What a great place and a great feather in the hat of Blanco and Texas! We took a tour during their 16th annual anniversary party. The place was rockin with what looked like about 5,000 plus fans in and out thru out the day.The tour was both very interesting and very informative. They did several tour that day but we were lucky enough to have their official Brew Master administer ours. Can't say enough good things about this place and the owner and crew...it's a winner all the way.
