Has the pool next to it. Soccer Fields are nice and large. Nice place to go with the family to go and play sports or even take your dog to have a great time.
Boerne is outside of San Antonio and one Sunday a month they have a market day where 40-50 booths are set up to sell you goods made or sold by local and regional shops. There are also several shops and restaurants nearby that are worth the trip. The food is acceptable and local, it is worth a visit if you are in the area.
A great place for a picnic and fun. We cooked hot dogs and played in the water. There were people picnicking, kayaking and surf paddling, people fishing and just playing in the water like we were. There are lots of shaded tables and grills and even a covered pavilion that can be reserved.
Loved this town.nice shops and lovely parks to walk. Awesome places to eat. Loved the duck park, the river walk and the Bear Moon Bakery.
Previous reviewers are confusing two different City of Boerne Parks. Boerne City Park is on the east side of town, with a swimming pool, walking trails, etc.On the northwest side of town is Boerne City Lake Park. This park surrounds a man made lake. No internal combustion motors are allowed on the Lake. There is a launching pad for small boats, and lots of picnic tables, etc. There is an admission charge for out of towners during the summer. It is a great place to spend a hot summer afternoon
It looks like you have to pay an entrance fee as there is a kiosk at the entry for that purpose. I think they must not charge an entry fee during Winter as the kiosk has been empty the two times we went. And I can imagine this place gets pretty packed during the summer months with locals that are trying to cool down from our sweltering summer days. The lake itself is rather small with a few nice table and grill areas and a play area for the kids as well. Restrooms on premises. Fishing is allowed by no motored water craft. Get tired of the scenery and there is a new place next door called Random where the Food Trucks congregate in the evening and the beer runs cold all day.
I had never really been to Boerne before this visit so I had no expectations, but I do have to say that I enjoyed this park. It reminded me of what the riverwalk museum and mission reaches are doing. While I do enjoy the commercial part of the river walk with the bars and what not I really enjoy the nature trail feel of the mission reach. This park in Boerne had all the beauty and splendor of the natural feel that I enjoy. My only regret is not planning better so I could have had a little picnic or at least a more time to enjoy the park. Maybe it would even have been better in the spring to do a little fishing. But overall I enjoyed it.
Boerne has been sinking a lot of money into the park area on the water with a new updated walking area. It's looking really nice as they finish up the hiking trail and add some landscaping. I think it's a great addition to a touristy kind of town and makes me want to drive there just to have a nice place to walk the dog. They are expanding the walking area to give you enough of a distance to get a good nature walk in. Love the ducks and swans. My dog loves the smells. It's a good break from shopping if you are traveling with pets.
Needs updating for this up and coming Hill Country town. This was fine before the population doubled but now should be addressed as it is very outdated.
The lake, parks, and ESP main plaza have so much to offer. The Main Plaza offers monthly arts and crafts, food, music, bands, and outdoor family movies.
I've heard about this little place before but never went then did a 5k recently here and decided to go back with kids. What a great day it turned out during the week. Not crowded in morning got a little busier after lunch. The lake is man-made and nice to look for shore to shore and walked much of the shoreline. Can enter the water in many places and nice trees to shade most of the picnic tables. There is 9 course Disc Golf and can rent discs or bring your own. Lake allows kayaks and canoes (have some to rent on weekends in summer) but no motorized boats so makes it very peaceful:) Has a large pavilion and small covered playground and clean bathrooms along with some port-a-potties in other areas. Not too far off Interstate 10. The kiddos really enjoyed their time there as shallow water areas for them to play in and area to run around too. Fees are $5 during week and $8 weekends.
This lake is pretty nice for you and your family to go swimming, fishing, and having a picnic. There are public restrooms and porta-johns, trash cans and picnic tables. Also is a small playground for the kiddos. The fee is $5 per carload and that is for all day long (5am-midnight.) You cannot take any motorized boats or jetskis, but you can take a canoe, small sail boat or inflatable boat/floaties. Bring lounge chairs, bug spray, and maybe something to cover your food with because flies are everywhere. No lifeguards there at all and the water gets pretty deep. It's also very rocky so probably will need your Crocs. Parking is pretty good. We will be going back very soon! We enjoyed it!
The river is generally alive with the active ducks and geese, plus fish, but the extreme drought conditions have left it a bit stagnated and unattractive. Get back to it when it has had the life revitalized and you will enjoy a peaceful afternoon there.
