The main point of interest in the town is very well done. Actors in character costumes delight both the kids and provide solid factual information to the adults I learned a lot today and had a thoroughly enjoyable day. Allow at least a couple of hours.

What a great place to learn and have fun. It was just as great visiting as an adult as it was a child.

We always enjoy visiting the Fort Davis National Historic Site. This was our first time to see the new exhibits in the visitor center. The old exhibits were quite good, but the new ones are more colorful and attractive, and seem to make the Fort a bit easier to understand. We especially love hiking the trails up behind the Fort. There are some nice overlooks, and you can hear the broadcast bugle programs when you're up there, too!The trails are quite steep in places, and very rocky just about everywhere, so be sure to wear sturdy shoes if you plan to hike.

The drive alone was worth the trip. You will see historic ranches and beautiful views. We loved the guided tour with Rachel. It was well worth the fee as she was so knowledgeable and patient with our questions. Just to see how the telescopes work was impressive. It was an easy trip as the small bus takes you right up to the front of the observatories. Do this tour if you have the time!

We spent a whole day looking and walking where camels walked. The ruins and reconstruction is beautiful. All you have to do is realize how remote you were in the 1800's. The grounds were in excellent condition. It was just great to spend the time in history.

We stopped here while in the area visiting our children. The rangers were kind the helpful. The buildings were interesting being built with adobe. The ground are well kept and beautiful. The hike up the mountains was really great!!! We spent a couple hours on the trails enjoying the scenery and exercise. The trails are well marked but rather rough in places. If your balance isn't the greatest, be extra careful and consider using a good walking stick. Some of the trails are rather strenuous. There are some signs telling what some of the plants are. The only problem is that other plants had grown up between the subject and the sign making it a bit confusing. We wished we had brought along a book on the local flora and fauna. I highly would recommend bringing extra water, a good hat and a pair of binoculars. West Texas can be dry and hot amid its stark beauty!

Built in 1854 on a scenic piece of land this is the first military post on the San Antonio-El Paso Rd and a home of the Buffalo Soldiers. The park service is doing an amazing job at maintaining/restoring this piece of history. The staff is very friendly and enthusiastic.

Nestled in the gorgeous hills around Fort Davis, and with its back up against a breathtaking canyon, the scenery alone is enough of a reason to stop. But the history and restored buildings make the spot an historically fascinating stop. Highly, highly recommend! Pets allowed on leash.

It was evident that there was considerable pride in this site and the people working there were very welcoming. The exhibits are exceptionally well done and the restoration work on the site is superb.

This site is lovely. The fort is beautifully restored and has an excellent museum. The old fort sits with the canyon wall as a gorgeous backdrop. Great stop for families. All the walking will take some of the energy out of the kids and give them an idea of the hardships of life back then. The site has restored buildings as well as ruins. I enjoyed that some buildings (barracks, commissary, hospital) are furnished.

Nice museum. Fun to walk the grounds and learn the history of the fort as they were self explanatory.

Very nice renovation of this historical site, a first for me. Very large army post, renovated hospital and barracks and unrenovated standing buildings as well as old foundations Interesting museum

I really enjoyed my visit here. it's a very large fort with many restored buildings, some furnished. the rangers were very helpful and friendly. it will require a lot of walking, to see it all. get your golden age passport, if you are over 62, and save money on national parks.

It was cold, but beautiful! I'm so glad I got to see it decorated for Christmas and dressed in white.

The buildings at this base have been preserved and the entire park is very well maintained. Park Rangers are helpful and professional and the ongoing bugle calls pull you back into 1910. I think I was born to late! Loved this place.
