We went as a guest of owners and stayed in one of three log cabins on the golf course. Fairly comfortable beds, and a very comfortable cabin. Galley kitchen, 1 real bedroom with a loft that sleeps 3. The hide-a-bed downstairs was pretty worn out and not very comfortable to sit on - so I don't think it would be an option to sleep. Housekeeping makes your bed and changes out towels daily - but don't expect any vacuuming or mopping. The beauty of the surroundings is why you are there - not for a bed... It is an exceptionally beautiful wooded property and while I didn't play golf - my husband said it was a world class course and a real challenge to his skills.
Have lived here for twelve years and love it! Beautiful surroundings, lots of wildlife, two great golf courses, nice marina, and a wonderful community.
Our family loves the Trophy Grill (see our review) but on a recent Friday before a holiday weekend, only the Lighthouse Restaurant was open. We arrived early, about 5:45 because we expected the restaurants to be busy. The place was totally empty, but the hostess said there were no tables available, all were reserved. I suggested to her that at that early hour we could easily get finished before her reservations arrived, but she said she "had her instructions." She offered that we could eat in the bar, so we walked over, and it was overflowing. It seems that the Trophy Grill should have been open on a holiday weekend. So we politely left and drove to the Cactus Grill where we had an awesome evening meal (read the review)!!.
Nice gated community, with good amenities. Nice to have a combination of access to the lake as well as golf. And the hotel is one of the best around.
The Hartwood Condos are amazing, super friendly staff and both courses are in great shape. Loved the relaxing atmosphere and looking forward too pool season. Restaurants are great - ask for Ruby at the Trophy Grill. We are property owners and visit regularly.U.Stone
White bluff resort on lake Whitney is a world class establishment with breath taking views and the most beautiful golf courses I have ever played. The resort is a wonderful family getaway .something for the whole family. Nice clean swimming pools and play ground areas for the children health and fitness center or a game of tennis if you prefer . If your a golfer better bring your A game because these two courses will test your skills to their limits. The people are friendly and very accommodating from the time of arrival till the very minute you have to leave.I highly recommend this resort to anyone or any family ready to escape the everyday rigors of life to a beautiful and unforgettable, relaxing retreat .
One currently closed to rebuild Greens; target reopening is Labor Day Weekend -- but these are 2 of the best in TX -- & w/ so many great Courses is TX, that's saying something! I am a member; play 70-90 Rounds per year on them. Why are they 2 of the best? Hosted 3 Texas State Opens on one -- and last year hosted the USGA U. S. Amateur SECTIONALS on the other. Selection for those events should say enough. Warning. If you've never played them, consider moving up a Tee the first time. These are SERIOUSLY good ( read: TOUGH ) golf courses. Greens are now all Bermuda ( used to be all Bent ).
while this is a gated residental area the public is allowed to go to the lovely eateries, and can play golf on the lovely course there...
First step is to make reservations at the Light House Restaurant for 8 people. Next step is to get your 80 year old parents, your brother and his entire family to commit to drive up from Waco while you drive visiting friends from Albuquerque New Mexico down to White Bluff. Then make a simple adjustment to the reservations-- there will be 11 people instead of eight-- about ten hours prior to the reservation. Double check to be sure that the restaurant can accomodate you. Pile everyone into their respective cars for a long drive to the reunion spot, hoping the food will be adequate this time since it was far overpriced and under cooked the last time you ate there. No wait for the Lighthouse to call you less than one hour before you are to be seated, with all eleven people en route to the restaurant to tell you that they cannot seat your party. No negotiation, no apology- in fact they blame you for changing your reservation which they confirmed twice that they could accomodate. Now you get to call your family and try to explain to them why they must turn their car around and make other plans. DO NOT TRUST THE PEOPLE AT THIS RESORT!!
Over a recent weekend getaway, I got to play both golf courses at White Bluff, and was completely satisfied. Pace of play was at my leisure, as there weren't many players on either course, either day. It was really something special, and not something I experience with the hectic rate of play on the busy DFW golf courses I play regularly. No beverage carts service on the Old Course was disappointing. Both courses were in great shape and well maintained. Greens on the New Course were just starting to show stress from the triple-digit temps heat wave over Texas for the past 2-months, but overall, very nice. Will definitely be returning here for more great golf.
My brother and I traveled to the White Bluff resort and found the facilities and golf courses in A+. We arrived on a Tuesday afternoon and played the old course. The course is very Challenging especially the back nine. Bring your a game to these courses. Tuesday night, we had an excellent dinner in the restruant and had an excellent room at the hotel. On Wednesday, we played the harder course - The new course - and yes it was harder. Both courses were in Excellent shape - You will certinaly enjoy the golf.
Four of us spent last weekend at White Bluff using the golf package deal. I'm not really sure what type of deal it turned out to be. We checked in Friday evening and went to dinner at The Lighthouse restaurant. After ordering we waited 50 minutes for our appetizers which were cold when they arrived. The entrees were overcooked and the waitress forgot our salads. To his credit the chef re-cooked our entrees and appetizers and the meal was very good, but we ate it at 10:00pm instead of 8:00pm. Breakfast and service at the Trophy Grill were excellent and the golf was great. The greens are somewhat rough, but they expect this to be better by November. When we got back to our rooms after driving into Whitney for a late lunch we discovered that the rooms had not been cleaned. When asked if the rooms would be cleaned the clerk told us that they were short-handed and not to expect any cleaning. We were able to get some clean towels, coffee and clean coffee cups. Dinner Saturday night was an even greater fiasco than Friday. After being seated we waited 20 minutes for water and flatware. The seafood buffet was fine with several selections, but wait staff didn't seem to have a clue as to what to do. No tables were being cleaned and no one offered to take away dirty plates. As a consequence, diners were piling dirty plates on any available table. We were taking bets on when the piles of plates would eventually topple over. We thought about leaving but had already paid for accommodations and golf so we stayed the night. Except for the large spider on my pillow, the rest of the evening was uneventful. In summation, the golf facility is well-run, but the Inn and restaurant need some work. To be fair, when I emailed the manager about our weekend, he called me personally and apologized for all the problems. I hope that they work out some of these issues.
