Very interesting history about a great American hero. I would have liked to learn more about the career of Admiral Nimitz.
There is so much information here and a person should be prepared to view it slowly in order to absorb it all. At times it is difficult to read of all the battles and casualities. Allow alot of time.
Learned a great deal I didn't know. It really connects with the National Museum of the Pacific. The grounds around the compound of both also tells a story.
great reenactment and the museum had some very interesting pieces. the old tanks and hospital were very cool
this is a very interesting museum with lots of great historical information. also don't miss the Pacific War museum.
When i entered here i was expecting just info on Nimitz, i also to and history lesson of the building and the town!
Nimitz commanded more troops in WW II than Eisenhauer. Who would have known this great American Admiral came form landlocked Fredricksburg, Texas. Great little museum and a good educational experience.
Admiral Nimitz was born and raised here, There are several sections to explore and it could easily take two days to explore it all. Your bound to come back so proud of the Admiral and all the men and women under his command. You will also learn so much about the role women played in this part of the war and how essential they were along with their male comrades in securing victory in the Pacific. If you get a little mueseumed out, the main street is just chock full of same amazing one of a kind shops.
Fredericksburg never fails to amaze me. Everytime I think I've seen it all I find another treasure. The Admiral Nimitz state site is one of them. This place is full of history. interactive things to do and it just gets better as you go along. The tour guides are great and you can get a recorded history to take along with you if you want to slow down and really experience it. they have benches you can rest at. restrooms that are close by when needed. The place is great for singles families, couples. I learned a lot from this venture. It's like going back in time and really being in the moment. Made me really happy and proud to be an AMERICAN. The room with The story of the Sullivan brothers is so very touching to one's soul. So many people we have to be thankful for all we have today.we spent 3 hours there and still it was no enough time.
Worth a stop to learn about the admiral and see the building. It has several rooms with exhibits to the dated period
We only learned of this museum by accident - from a local we met in New Orleans! We are both very glad that we took the short detour north from Kerrville on the I10. Well worth a visit. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend in Fredericksburg.Warrior193.
Very thorough treatment of the war in in the Pacific. They have upgraded the museum, so if you haven't visited in a few years, it is a whole new experience!
It is overwhelming to see how many names and pictures are on the walls. The setting is serene and respectful as it should be. Thinking on how many sacrificed some or all of their lives is extremely emotional.
If you are interested at all in the history of WW11 in the Pacific Theatre, this is the place to see.
This is a small but very interesting museum. Lots of tidbits about Admiral Nimitz and about the area that were new to me. A good introduction to the WWII museaum.
