Hot. No air circulation during the movie. Sound hard to hear. Not quaint and arty; just a poor overall experience. Old and dirty dark and drab with uncomfortable seats. Adobe walls falling apart as was the chipped cup for my coffee. Bathroom was clean.

This theatre is so unique, inviting and fun for a break from the usual. They offer prizes for trivia in the beginning of shows-always fun for the winner to win a cool and useful prize from a local business. Great place to catch a film not in mainstream theatre. They offer a student discount and serve beer and wine too!

This is a small theater in an old adobe building not far from the Mesilla Plaza. The films are shown by the all volunteer Mesilla Film Society. There is a new film each Friday evening and showings are at 7:30 pm each evening, with the doors opening at 6:45. They have a concession stand in the back that serves coffee, cake, sodas, and popcorn. The theater has about 6-7 rows of seats in the front and tables and chairs in the back. You can sit in either place and view the film. There is a senior price, but on Wednesday evenings, everyone gets in for $5. There is also often a special showing of a New Mexico related film on Saturday afternoons. The inside walls are painted with scenes from New Mexico early days -- someone crossing the desert on a horse, etc. The restrooms are clean. Parking is on the street. This time we saw the Saudi film "Wadjha", which was very interesting and well done. It gave a glimpse into the life of Saudi girls and women.

This is a cute little theater in Old Mesilla where a lot of the movie goers know each other and have been patrons of the thereafter for years. The entire theater is run by volunteers and has a welcoming family feel to it.

I recently relocated to southern New Mexico from Los Angeles and was craving "cultural" stimulation and a fun and unique experience and discovered the Fountain Theatre, staffed by volunteers from the Messia Valley Film Society. Screenings of independent, alternative and foreign films in a tiny theatre (circa 1920's) charming wall murals, fairly comfy vintage seating, plenty of leg room, snacks and for $6, its a winner! Located in the heart of old town Mesilla-next door to the popular La Posta restaurant—dine, window shop, before or after screenings. If you prefer a state of the art sound system and blockbuster films shown at the local cineplex, then this is not the venue for you.

This theater always has the great movies that are not playing anywhere else. You can sit on a couch, table w/chairs, or theater seats. Get a bottle of wine & some cheese, desserts and of course popcorn. If you need a refill on popcorn, you can go get a refill yourself.

It is a place of history in Mesilla. You can enjoy a glass of wine with your movie. The movies are different from what is offered in other theaters.

It has old seats and a simple screen, but the movies we have seen here evoke incredible emotions. Being in the old theater, instead of at home intensifies the feelings. Great selection of shows for varied tastes, we chose the intense dramas and foreign films. Choose a movie you will enjoy, have a drink just down the street afterwards, and stroll the historic plaza in the cool of the evening.

Our main theater company in Las Cruces is just fine. They play some of the less "hyped" movies and have really reasonable prices compared to other parts of the country. That being said, they really neglect to show many of the great quality films that are released. Almost every movie I've seen there is a great movie, not an average one. They also show many foreign movies, which are usually excellent. You can purchase refreshments, even coffee!!, at this theater. The atmosphere is really great because it is a very old theater and is very welcoming. My only complaint about it is that the night movies start too late for me and there is only one matinee per film.

I adore my experiences at the Fountain. Great film selections, friendly staff. I wish I discovered this location sooner.

This theater has new and unusual movies every week. They come from many different film festivals and many different countries. Many are in English; the rest have English subtitles. There is limited seating, but except for very special movies and events you can usually get a seat. They have coffee, cake, and soda for sale. The regular sets are in front. the tables and chairs where you can sit and have something to eat are in the back; you can also watch the movie from there, too. There are murals on the inside walls of this old adobe building depicting local desert scenes. It is run by the volunteer Mesilla Valley Film Society. There are senior prices, too. The show begins at 7:30 pm each evening, but the doors open at 6:45 pm. Get there early to get a good seat, unless you like sitting right up front.
