tree spring

I've actually hiked Tree Spring Trail more times than I can count. It has *the best* view (at the top) in the Sandias for the least amount of work (except perhaps for driving to the Crest). It's a gentle little 2-mile trail (4 miles round trip) that goes through some of the cool and shady parts of the Sandias -- it's a great summer hike (also spring & fall). There are tons of wildflowers on it in good years. If you have only a little time to hike in the Sandias, this is the trail you should take. Enjoy it!

We hike this trail several times a year. It is on the east side of the Sandias. Starts fairly high on the mountain, goes through lovely forests and glades with spectacular views along the way and at the top. Be sure when you get to the top to go the additional 100 feet or so to the edge of the crest overlooking Abq and all points west. Great spot for a picnic.
