Great homemade donuts during apple picking season, but be prepared to wait in a long line for them. The market stocks great fresh fruits and vegtables as well as has a nice bakery section.
Battleview has farm fresh fruits and vegetables. For me, the pies and desserts are special. Wide assortment of cakes and pies that are ALL very good. They have a big selection of sugar free items that taste great. Workers are always very helpful.Worth going out of your way for, if you want desserts for yourself or friends.
Normally we buy our apple cider donuts from Delicious Orchards, but Battleview is much closer to home so I stopped by last week. Everyone there was so friendly, and we thought the donuts were tastier! We'll definitely be back soon.
I recently took my 7 year old apple picking and peach picking at the orchard and it was so much fun! After picking delicious apples and peaches, we went to the country store and saw how they made apple cider donuts right in front of us. There are fresh fruits and vegetables and tons of delicious treats to bring home! It should be noted that the orchard charges $1.00 for a card which entitles you to come back and pick more without the dollar charge. Apples and peaches are weighed and sold by the pound.
We drove over 90 minutes to pick apples with family and friends at Battlefield Orchards. They were very busy on a pretty Sunday afternoon. This is a nice operation and we picked about 20 lbs. of wonderful apples. We also visited the country store and took home nice fresh produce. Managed to avoid the baked goods but they sure looked yummy.
As for orchard picking, our experience here was below average. After pondering our experience, I decided on the AVERAGE instead of POOR because 'poor' is a little too strong. The focal point of the problem we encountered was bruised fruit.• Service: Adequately staffed for the pick-your-own season. Friendly, courteous.• Food: Apples were more BRUISED than we're accustomed to at orchards. It made picking a full four buckets a chore. However, they are tasty!• Value: Average at best. Priced per pound. I'm used to seeing per pound prices at the supermarket. Picking my own at an orchard should get me a peck or bushel deal, no? Also, to pick in the orchard, I had to join the Battleview Orchards Pick-Your-Own Club. Membership is only only a dollar and is good for the season. (I figured it covers the value of the fruit consumed while picking.)• Atmosphere: A nice orchard, relatively flat. Adequate free parking, near the picking field. Restroom facilities were lacking, even back at the store. The store was nice. Priced on the high side, but busy! The website: http://www.battlevieworchards.com/
We went here to apple pick. It was a nice local place to,pick when fruits are in season. There are many pick, your own in the area but this is the best one.
I shouldn't say this because it'll add to the crowds, but this is a great place. They sell their own apples, corn, strawberries, tomatoes and peaches (the BEST peaches in the area). They have a great bakery and the pies are super. Especially the apple and peach. They should be since they use their own fruit. The Battleview pies are better than those at Delicious Orchards. And that is quite a complement.
I have been going here since I was a little girl (many years ago lol)THE PIES. Omg the pies. Just get the pies!!! They still have the best Apple Cider ever, in my opinion!Service is always wonderful, food and snacks and veggies and fruits are always fresh!!Nothing beats coming here in the fall and smelling the freshly made cider donuts as you pull up to the front door!!!
This place is a must stop location, especially in the fall. They have a huge assortment of things typically found in a country store - fresh fruits and veggies, pies, jams, kits to make desserts, pumpkins, pumpkin carving things, sauces, breads and the list goes on. The prices are cheap considering the quality of what you get. Get hear early and get a hot cider donut, you won't be disappointed.
The store has all your fall treats; Apple cider donuts, pies, cakes, cider. The scent coming from the building was intoxicating. After the store, head to the orchards where you can pick your own.
