fort mott state park

Haven't been here since I was a child. Happy to see the park is still in great shape and being maintained. Much to see and do here. Great mix of nature, engineering, and history. There's a self guided walking tour of the fort that's well marked with lots of signs and pictures. Picnic area, playground, and open grassy fields right on the river. Bathroom facilities are clean. Nice hiking trail that leads to Finn's Point. Very relaxing park that's fun for the entire family. Admission and parking are FREE. Definitely worth a visit.

Stopped here on my way through south Jersey visiting some lighthouses. Finns Point Range lighthouse is only a couple minutes down the road so it would be easy to combine the two. It was a little cold so I didn't do too much walking but the park had a nice play area for the kids, lots of good historical information, and very nice walking trails. I would go back if in this area again.

Great historical place to visit. Nice open space to run the dogs. I go here at least once every other month.

We walk the dogs around Fort Mott park and know it quite well but there was a historic soldiers weekend September 27th and 28th.Everyone was in full period dress with vehicles, weapons, demonstrations etc. We were shown around the lookout towers (which are normally locked up) and the whole site was explained, why it was there, how it was built etc.Normally it's a fun place to go but so much better when people explain to you the whole story and there was no charge for the visit. It really was like a walk through history with everything from that era, even the music.. I think it's only once a year but a weekend to plan for.

Had driven by for years - finally decided to make the short detour from the main road to visit Fort Mott...and was glad I did. There are some signs detailing the history of this area & the fort itself was interesting. There are scenic views as well - this is a great place to take the family!

A great place for a nature walk or picnic as well as exploring the history of the fort. Although I've lived in nearby Philadelphia my whole life, I only recently learned of the existence of this fort. During the summer, a ferry runs between this fort and the two nearby ones on the DE side, Fort Delaware and Fort DuPont. I was able to also visit Fort Delaware during this trip...which is located on an island in the river. It served as a prison for Confederate POWs during the Civil War. History buffs should also check out the Civil War cemetery, Finn's Point, next to Fort Mott. This is where the Confederate POWs who died at Fort Delaware are buried.

Walking trails are great and scenery is outstanding. You can have picnics and parties at this facility. Great for the young and the old.

This is one beautiful state park. I was in the area alone on business and saw it on the map, so I thought I'd check it out. Lots of nice walking trails on the water and a bit away from it. The nearby historic cemetery is the most beautiful setting I've ever seen for a final resting place, well worth the 1/2 mile walk. It's hard to describe this park, you just have to experience it. I talked to a local I met there, and she said a lot of locals don't even know it's there, or have never visited it. Consequently, it is very low traffic, which is nice. Don't miss it if you're in the area.

A great place to take pictures . It's a very historic site with tidbits of information as you walk around. There are trails in the woods and trails around the underground bunkers.has picnic areas, and a sandy beach to walk along.
