Tabbys Place is truly a must see for cat lovers, whether you are just visiting or in the market to adopt. More than a shelter, Tabbys Place is home to 100+ felines, ranging from kittens to rescues from other shelters that found themselves in precarious situatiosn. Tabbys Place is run by knowledgable staff, who know each cat intimately, and dedicated volunteers, who keep the place sparkling clean and the cats well socialized. The staff can match potential adopters with just the right cat. Please know that Tabbys Place is picky about who adopts their cats, and checks references, even of their own volunteers.
This is a most remarkable place. Its almost like being in someones home. The animals are well taken care of. And some have sad stories. I believe it is run on donations and if that is true the place is even more amazing. Visit if you love animals and help them out via donation or time. I have no connection to the place other than that I visit from time to time and then come home and hug my own furries. It is a beautiful thing to see such dedicated people helping less fortunate felines. Bravo to them.
This is the nicest place I've ever seen for felines. They're VERY well taken care of, they have room to wander and play, the whole place is kept clean, and they have interaction with other cats of their health group. There's also a nice outdoor area. I was very pleased with the care the cats are given. It's easy to tell the felines are happy. If you need care for your cat, go to this place, not somewhere else where your kitty won't be as happy. I spent over an hour petting and playing with all kinds of kitties and it was very much enjoyable. Definitely check this place out!
I know it might sound odd, but that's what we did. We have a cat, don't want more than one, but we love the kitties so we stopped, not really knowing why. The kids and I stayed for nearly an hour petting cats...I suppose there are worse things to do on a Saturday. We had a nice experience. Stop by if you're a cat lover, if you're not, skip it. :-)
Does visiting an animal shelter bother you? Do you leave shelters feeling bad for the animals? This will NOT happen when you visit Tappy's Place. They take superb care of their cats and every cat has her or his territory, is free to roam in their room or lobby and you will not find a cat in a cage unless the cat is a new resident or is sick. (New and sick cats are kept away from the general population.) TP is clean, spacious, stimulating for the cats and is bright and attractive. There are friendly people to help you if you are interested in adopting or just giving some pet/play therapy. Adoption fees are a little more that local shelters, but you receive so much more in shots, etc. and they do follow up calls as well to see how your new cat is adapting to your life. Tabby's Place gives excellent medical care to all their cats and spares no expense in treatment. They have everything from kittens to seniors to special needs felines including FIV+ cats. I adopted a cat from them many years ago and I still call them for advice with tough medical issues for my FIV+ kids....By the way, I agree with the rule in place for not letting adopted cats outside. Responsible owners always keep their cats indoors....Tabby's Place is a "must visit" for all cat lovers!
The first thing you must know if you go there to adopt a kiddie/cat BUT THAT THEY DO NOT TELL YOU CLEARLY UPFRONT is that either you pledge to keep that cat inside or you must live in a secluded place 5 miles radius away from public roads. The major issue about that silly rule is that you do not know it before you have completed a lengthy information form (4 pages) about your attitudes/experiences with cats and your committment to a prospective cat, have toured the facility, spent time with cats and eventually identify the one that seems to appreciate you as well as you appreciate it, pre-pay an adoption fee (they reimburse if the adoption process fails because of them) and go home thinking that everything is is settled and you will get your cat 2 days later. And 2 days later, they tell you no way. Although you live in the country side on a 3 acre property and your house is 500 feet away from a country road with speed limit at 30 miles/h, they inform you that they drove by and cannot allow you to adopt any cat from their shelter because your home is too close to the road.
The owner built a beautiful building for cats to live out their lives and/or to be adopted. It is well taffed with vets and has a large number of volunteers who are assigned carrying for a small group of cats each. The facility is fantastic. Right now it can hold 100 cats and he is looking to expand the facility. Cats that cannot use all 4 legs to walk have been given sets of wheels that harness to the cat. Watch them move around now as they have great mobility. This is a very loving and caring place for cats.
Even if you are not a cat lover, it is worthwhile stopping here to see what they do and learn about how the facility was established. They take terrific care of the cats, and we have adopted 2 from them. Watch for their Catoberfest! Fun event and fundraiser.
we should live as well as the cats that Tabby's Place shelters. They have a dedicated staff of volunteers and take exceptional care of the cats they take in. they treat injured and diseased cats as well.
Absolutely the most amazaing place! From the moment you enter the front door you can feel the love and caring these special people have for their residents. "A Cat Sanctuary" is a perfect description. Believe me if I were a cat without my own furrever home - nothing & nowhere could be better than Tabby's Place while I wait for my furrever family to find me!!! Stop by and visit you'll understand! They love visitors everyday from noon - 5pm You'll be hooked and maybe even find a new love!
Stopped here with my daughter-in-law enroute back to Pa - wonderfully caring place for those older or sicker animals that some people cannot care for any longer. As two cat-lovers and owners of multiple cats, we were quite impressed. Owner is doing a PURRfect job of creating a homlike atmosphere for the animals - thank you!
I had to put one of my little cats down after 10 years of friendship. She had a VERY rare form of Feline cancer. Feline dendritic cell histiocytosis ( http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16966441 ). My kitty was only a handful of Felines to have this cancer internally. This story was intended to remind EVERYONE of organizations such as Tabby's Place. Help them keep up the good work!
If you love cats--even if you just like cats and maybe if you don't like them yet--visit. The people who care for these very special creatures are just amazing and will renew your faith in everything good.
Such a clean and professional facility and staff. They are such a positive organization!
Although I didn't end up adopting a cat from here, I did go and look at one (he had health issues and needed to stay). The place was amazing. Large rooms for small cat colonies with ups and downs and hiding places. I would almost say a cat was better there than in my own house! On the downside, it's such a nice place, they must be spending a lot of money on the few cats they have; I would prefer they spend that same money and help more cats instead of having such a fancy place.
