We were first-time cross country skiiers and this place was perfect. The woman renting us skis was helpful, the trails themselves were very nice. We took a one-hour lesson and that was the only disappointment - the instructor was a bit gruff and not very patient. I'd definitely go back, but I would not recommend the lessons.

I visit High Point Ski Center every year and always have a great time. This year the conditions were very good - powder and freshly groomed. The management are very nice and accommodating. There is a nice small lodge with a fireplace. You can rent equipment and have lunch; they sell some food as well. It's a great ski if you live close to NJ, northern PA or NY. We were a group of nine and a few said and I quote 'this is as good as Vermont and a much shorter drive'. They also have a snowshoe trail up to the monument. Pretty awesome to ski with the monument in view -- highly recommend.

We had a great time!! We're all beginners to xc & want to learn more. We know that we were very lucky in our timing for this trip up north & feel very blessed to have found such a great place to learn & enjoy spending time outdoors in the winter. It was a great 'workout' & such nice staff. The chili & hot chocolate hit the spot. My only complaint is that our trip was too short!

Been here about a half dozen times. Staff is great - friendly and knowledgeable. Good quality rental equipment and reasonable prices. Have brought several friends to try xc for the first time. Beginner trails are really nice - easy and scenic. If you are an expert skier, maybe not enough challenge here, but for beginners and intermediates, it's a super place as long as they have snow. The trail report on their web site always seems to be accurate so check it first. They don't exaggerate. On snowy weekends the rental office can be crowded though, especially if you are looking to rent equipment for the half day after 1:00. Better to get there early and pay for the full day - only a few bucks more. But that only applies to the rental line. Once you are out on the trails, they are never crowded - plenty of room.Last time out I broke the binding on my own ski and their repair shop did an expert job of fixing it for a very reasonable cost. This place is a NJ gem. I hope they stay in business for a long time.

Been to High Point to snowshoe many times before and it WAS great. Monument Trail was only dedicated (8km) trail for shoeing. Plus you could always shoe the other x-country trails alongside so as not to mar the groomed tracks. Great views. Reasonable trail fees. Rentals too. Wish they opened a bit earlier. Present time is 9:00am. Now, why did I title this "Used To Be Great"? Because this year they now allow fat bikes on their one and only dedicated snowshoe trail. How crappy is that? Snowshoe over rutted out huge ruts made by even bigger tires than regular mountain bikes make on regular hiking trails after a rain. (When they're not supposed to ride on them because they'll rut and gouge out the soft earth.) Not fair, High Point. They're so concerned about not ruining their groomed x-country trails, but apparently don't give a darn about snowshoers having to twist ankles or make the shoeing totally unenjoyable by having their trails ruined by fat bikes. I won't be returning to shoe there.

This is a great way to use this park in the winter. Having the Monument Trail for snowshoes is a great feature. That's what got us hooked and prompted us to buy our own snowshoes. The other trails are great as well - everything loops together so you can go for quite a long time in the woods. The only recommendation I would make is that they build a little "snow bridge" across the road at the end of Lake Marcia so you don't have to take off your skis or snowshoes to cross.

Very nice trails, great rentals, snack bar. Good prices, good parking.

Cross country ski is something you don't hear a lot about in the US. This is much more physically demanding than skiing down the slopes. If you like outdoor challenge among great winter scenery, you are gonna love this one. My favorite was going-up-the-mountain trail. and then once you're done you have a nice cafeteria with a fireplace and hot chocolate. I hope they get snow there this year.
