I have looked across the Hudson all my life and the Colgate Clock has always been there. In fact, I hardly notice it from New York. When my daughter moved to Jersey City, I finally saw the clock up close and personal. It is sited on what seems to be a construction zone. I think that they are planning a park there but it does not seem to be moving forward. The clock is fantastically underwhelming. In the day time, all of the magic is gone. At night the magic faces Manhattan. So, if you just happen to be walking by, stop in. It is free. But do not bother going out of your way.

Best seen from NY, not NJ. Not worth a special trip Could you say more? Reviews must be at least 50 characters. Thanks. No

I have seen this clock all my life and unlike most clocks out in public as this one is, it actually keeps correct time! It's only after I first traveled to Switzerland over 40 years ago that I appreciated that there were actually places in the world which had functioning public clocks. Jersey City is a member of a very exclusive club in that regard.

The huge Colgate Clock serves as the timekeeper of downtown Jersey City. Facing Downtown Manhattan, it is a gentle reminder to the travelers on the various ferries of the current time.

Words cannot possibly do justice to the monumental architectural feat we call the Colgate Clock, affectionately known as the smiling "gate" of Jersey City. My family and I were concerned and knew time was of the essence when we heard this 90 yr old icon was being torn down to be rebuilt with a modern design but rest assured you will have the "time" of your life exploring this new and improved technological wonder. We will be rejoining the crowds this year for NYE. Forget Time Sq. This is the place to be. A great "time" will be had by all.

This is an iconic landmark and you get a nice clean feeling around your teeth.Of course you will have a better view on this clock from the world finance center or from a ferryboat.

It tells the time and it can be seen from Manhattan which was right across the river..............................

This is a dated old clock used to attract attention to some company that once had a factory in the area. It is nothing more than a clock without any charm or draw for tourists whatsoever. Those interested in clocks might find some value but as for history, the history it represents is nil, all it does is promote yet another company that is long gone from NJ, and even if they still have a symbolic presence the jobs are long gone.

It was a BIG clock and it gave us the accurate time. However from the park we only saw the back of the clock, had to go across the river to see the time.

It's certainly eye-catching, a large lighted clock visible on the riverfront. Sort of interesting as an odd curiosity.

The area around the clock is under construction or some kind of renovation so you can not go close to it and even all pictures come out with the wired fence.

Was staying at the Hyatt Regency at Exchange Place and took a walk one night. Passed by the 9/11 tribute and came upon this. Nothing to go out of your way for specifically. But if you are taking a stroll around Exchange Place at night - which provides one of the best views of the NYC skyline - it's worth the extra few steps to walk down and check this out lit up at night.

While on the Jersey City waterfront you can't skip over the Colgate Clock. The entire waterfront walkway is great and this is particularly a sight at night.

The waterfront walkway all along this area of Jersey City is really beautiful, but this clock is just weird. It's more of an eyesore in my opinion.

Historic giant clock serves as icon on the Hudson River (NJ side). Colgate used to have its HQ in Jersey City (long ago) but now the clock sits near Goldman Sachs. The same man maintained it for 40 years until he retired....don't count on the exact time (or you will miss the ferry) but it's a nice landmark.
