I was very excited to ski here with my mother. The reviews were great and the location was even greater. We are no professionals and we have no idea how to ski, but we figured it would still be fun, and it was, although, it would've been better if the employees were thrilled to attend us.We visited Pats Peak this past Thursday (3/12) around 11AM, and I had purchased the tickets and pre-rented all the equipment. They had a special March rate which was amazing!Once we arrived the valet was very polite and organized. We then headed to a girl who scanned our tickets and she was nothing excited and didn't even say hello. She was not clear with directions of what we had to do, she simply scanned our tickets gave us the stickers and that was about it. She didn't even hand us the little sticker holder for our jacket, I had to ask for it.We headed to the boots pick-up location and we had to wait for a while. I would completely understand and not mind the wait if they were busy, but they had about 4 employees LOOKING at us and no one cared to approach. It seemed as if they were all waiting to see who would help us, almost as if no one wanted to do so. A boy finally came with zero energy, barely greeted us and simply handed our boots. Now, if I may add that with our pre order, it specifically asks us if we were first time skiers and we did state that we were, so I supposed the employees would care to give us directions to maybe how to at least put on the boots? My mother and I were trying to crack our heads and figure out how to put the boots on, and the employees were looking at us, seeing us struggle. I tried dropping a hint and telling my mom "it would be nice if someone showed us how to put these on". With employees still looking yet not helping, I had to kindly ask for help.I understand everyone is used to professionals, but hey, they should also be prepared to receive newbies like us. Robert was very kind and saved the day by helping and even gave us some good tips. With the boots all set, we headed to get our skis. They were all separated for us by our names. They really do a great job by keeping the pre-orders organized, although, the girl that helped us.. oh boy. She really seems to be a very nice girl, and I really tried to be patient, but she was so careless. I can try to give her some credit for the fact that she smiled here and there. At one point I separated from my mom to go store our boots and bags upstairs. While I was doing so, the girl gave my mom my equipment, although, I didn't know that. When I came back down I approached the girl, and she was putting her jacket on, it seemed like she was leaving. I smiled waiting for my equipment to be handed to me, given the fact that I was not aware that my mom had them. She looked at me and said "what?" in a quite rude tone. I was surprised that an employee would say "what" to a customer; almost in a "what do you want from me" tone. Still very patiently I asked for what I was looking for and she directed me to my mother. We were very excited for this mother and daughter getaway, we drove all the way from Rhode Island for it, and I can honestly say that the employees really did not help making this trip special. Robert was the one earned my review a 3 star since he was very helpful and kind, he even tried to help us with directions once we finished skiing. We learned that skiing isn’t really our thing but we had tons of fun while we were falling all the time. Overall we had a great time, but the employees were not part of the "fun experience" (except for Robert, of course). We might try to come back just for the fact that I haven’t yet found a review that spoke poorly about the employees, so I’m supposing it simply wasn’t our lucky day. The location and maintenance of the is great, shout out for that!

No, it's not a big mountain and yes the lifts are old and slow but this ski area is simply a classic. We always ski Pat's Peak at least once every year. As we became better skiers we did outgrow it for larger and more challenging areas but there's something really special about this place that keeps us coming back. To be able to drive less than an hour on a Friday afternoon and ski from 12:30 to 10:00 PM for the usual ticket price is tremendous. Night skiing doesn't get any better. The Sled Pub has great food and the main cafeteria is good too. I do wish we didn't have to eat in the pub ($) just to enjoy a beer with our food but it's only a small annoyance. We do find the terrain pretty easy now but the grooming and snow making is tops. They absolutely cover this mountain at the earliest opportunity and it stays great right up until closing day. We tried tubing this year for the first time and found it surprisingly fun. You can't compare this ski area to the big areas up north or even to nearby Mount Sunapee. It's not what those area are and that's quite fine. This is fun place to go for a low-impact day or evening. To us it's more like going bowling or to the movies to just hang out with friends and have a really great time. We always do!

We enjoy going to Pats Peak for the convenience and the skiing. Our kids love the trails and we like the intimacy of the mountain.

My whole clan traveled to Pats Peak during school vacation. I stayed in the lodge, managing the hot chocolate whenever a grandchild took a break to come inside for a break. I did venture out to see the race course when my 17 y.o. Took his turn. From skateboarding to beginner skiing, the younger ones had a blast. Weather was great and staff very available and helpful. We will go back again and again.

Great option for families with small kids and for beginners. Good variety of broad easy trails for learning or cruising. Friendly staff. Sled Pub is reasonably priced with good food. Free popcorn a plus too. Newer area on the back side gets great afternoon sun and fewer crowds. Better option for Boston families than Nashoba and less crowded than Wachussett. For more of a challenge, go farther north.

Great little bar upstairs with live music after a full day of skiing. Smaller mountain, but great trails and even with a novice skier there was plenty of variety to choose from. We didn't have to go down the same trail each time. Will definitely come back and try the tubing too!

This post was recently shown to us by a long time customer and frankly has us alarmed. I reviewed the night in question with our Guest Services Staff and they do not recall anyone coming into the office making them aware of any negative experiences. We empower our staff to correct situations as quickly as possible and as a local family owned operation for the last 52 years, we understand and appreciate the value of community. We know that we won’t please everyone 100% of the time but we do try and we try very hard. I am truly sorry that we did not meet your expectations. If I may on two of your points: Our tickets are priced at a point where they need to be to cover our costs of doing business. I am sure at any particular day a specific ski area may have a ticket deal that might beat ours but in terms of normal daily ticket prices we can’t find anyone that is our size or larger, maybe one mountain, that has a ticket price that is less than ours in New Hampshire. In fact our all-inclusive $49 POP (rentals, lift tickets, lessons) rate on Saturday night is a crowd favorite. As for our lifts we have the largest uphill capacity in Southern NH and our operating schedule is very aggressive. In reviewing the lift operations report for the 28th I see that all 11 lifts were operating and lines were very minimal to non-existent. Further, just last year we completed the Cascade Basin area complete with a new triple chair and over the last ten years have installed 3 additional lifts. Again we are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. Was there a particular issue that you ran into that we are not aware of that caused you to give us such a low rating? We would like to make this situation correct. Please e-mail me kris@patspeak.com so we can try resolve your issue or call my direct line at 603-428-3245 ext. 107. Thank you in advance. First, I find their lift ticket prices very high considering what they have to offer. No significant discount for half-day tickets either and hold on to your wallet for junior tickets. I find that it's mostly an area for beginner skiers. Not much to entertain the more advanced skier. The other issue is that most of their slopes start out nice, but flatten out early. It's also find it difficult to move from one side of the mountain to the other...funky layout. Finally, they start closing some of the lifts and trails before closing to heard people towards the lodge. I'm sorry, but I just paid what I feel is a poor value for skiing and now I can't ski the whole mountain until closing?! Oh and the lodge...forget finding a place to sit or store your stuff... It's packed.

Pat's Peak specializes in teaching skiers/boarders at all skill levels. The Adult Clinics provide a wonderful opportunity to improve your skills and increase your enjoyment of the sport. There is something on the Mountain for everyone.

Visited on a weekday around noon. School was in session but you wouldn't know it by the number of kids in the lodges. Then at 3pm, buses arrived with hundreds more. I love kids but would also like to find a bench to sit on in the lodge that isn't loaded with coats and book bags, or misbehaving kids who are unsupervised. There were several lifts running but they were very slow, taking 5 to 8 minutes (or longer) to reach the top, which isn't really very high. They kept stopping, apparently because some children couldn't board or leave the chairs easily. If you prefer a less chaotic environment, consider one of the resorts further north. I shutter to wonder what the weekends are like.

Both our kids learned to ski at Pat's, its a great family mountain. We live outside Boston and I'd rather make the trip to Pat's vs. Nashoba (very small, expensive, and limited terrain) and vs. Wachusett (too many people). There are beginner and intermediate trails from the summit, plus a terrain park and a few black diamonds. Lodge is a nice place to grab lunch (recommend Sled Pub upstairs, where they have nice draught beers and all you can eat popcorn). Kids under 6 ski free.

We enjoyed skiing here last weekend. It's about 90 mins from Boston area, with last 30 mins or so being back roads (if you go up 3 to 89). Parking lot was crowded but lifts and slopes weren't bad at all. It's a small ski area, but has enough terrain to enjoy a day on it for sure. The lifts are on the slow side but it's small enough area that even running slow they don't take long to get to the top. Prices for tickets and rentals are about normal, and easy enough to get both. Everyone very friendly and helpful. The ski bag storage areas are pretty limited in the two small lodge areas, but use the lockers downstairs in the ski rental area for a convenient place to lock stuff up if you need to. Food area is small, but food was as good as any other ski area. They have a pub upstairs that we didn't go see. Not much else to cover here. It's well-run, on the small side but good enough unless you are looking for larger and more difficult terrain. BTW - we came back toward Boston using all back roads to compare the two options, and the back roads added about 20 mins to the trip....but zero traffic!

Spent the morning tubing and had a great time. Enough of a crowd that there were people around but never really had to wait to tube. The staff were helpful and friendly. Had lunch in the Sled Pub, and was pleasantly surprised by the food. The philly steak sandwich was very tasty and better than I'd expect from a ski lodge bar.
