The only thing there is Smokey Bear and the Band Shell. Sure on Wednesday nights in the summer there are bands in the evening but otherwise the band shell sits empty. I think they should have more for the visitors here. We have visited other places that in their parks they have many statues like one in South Dakota with all different Flintstone characters. It would be awesome if the town put something in the bare vacant area in the park.
Smokey the Bear...and his cubs...are a sight everyone should see! He is an icon in International Falls. Come visit and learn the history of Smokey. Remember, "he can sniff a fire before it becomes a flame...that's why they call him "Smokey....and Smokey is his name!" The park is on the small side but it is truly lovely. The grounds are extremely well groomed; there is a picnic table area with an overhead cover and concrete under the tables to keep them in place and not digging into the ground. There is also a bandshell where we have concerts throughout the summer and a tennis court. It is a very, very pleasant place to have a picnic. It is located next to the Bronco Nagurski museum and Randy's gas station (BP).
During our trip through International Falls, I checked TripAdvisor and came across this statue. My then 9 and 7 year old boys and I jumped out of the car to see the big guy. It is a great photo opportunity. It takes 5-10 minutes and is certainly worth the stop!
Open expanses of grass with a bandshell offering free live music each week during the summer. Just across the street from another green space between two WPA buildings -- the City Hall and Public Library. Cross one more street and you'll find the War Memorial and the historic Koochiching County Courthouse.
This park is very easy to find and the statue of Smokey is fantastic for a photo op with the kids. The only problem was that the kids were wondering where the playground was so they could play a little more. If they added a playground or swings near the statue then this would be an excellent park. Still - stop for the photo op.
This is a nice litlle, well kept park with Smokey right there. It's almost un-American not to stop and see Smokey Bear! It's very clean, no grafitti and VERY big. Easy to find and free, of course.
There is a giant Smokey Bear statue in International Falls that deserves a drive by and provides an excellent photo opportunity. There is also a nice park around it where you can have a picnic.
International Falls brags about being the coldest place in the lower 48, and while there is not a laundry list of things to do the Smokey Bear park makes for a fun reason to get out of the car and pose for some pictures. This is a huge statue!
