Renting the canoe was a little frustrating but in the end it was worth it. Be sure your plans are concrete. We had to change our travel dates from August to September; the reservation was made the beginning of June and changed less than a week later and we lost our money and had to pay for a new reservation. The National Parks have a third party doing reservations. To change or cancel a reservation is a rip off.
Its a nice lake but needs a boat to roam around it. There are several renting space and you can rent one to enjoy this beautiful lake properly.
Beautiful sunrise and sunsets with great fishing and adventures. Although be prepared for foul weather. You never know when a summer thunderstorm may be brewing
We rented a houseboat for the first time from Voyagaire Houseboats and spent 3 days cruising the Crane, Sand Point, and Namakan Lakes. The houseboat was clean and the food provisioning was more than we would eat in twice the time. If you enjoy fishing, be sure to bring your own tackle if possible. The tackle provided by Voyagaire was adequate but not great.
This area is wonderful. Great fishing, great boating and friendly people. There are lots of places to stay. Or you might like to try a houseboat vacation.
I love Crane Lake. There is no place better in Minnestoa to escape to. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is always upbeat.
My husband and I rented a houseboat just after Labor Day this year. It was our first trip on a houseboat and we LOVED it!!! We were trying to decide how to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and decided on this and boy are we happy we did. I find myself thinking back to the trip so frequently and our trip was two months ago! Can not wait to go back again next year!!!
The scenery is breathtaking and pristine. We brought friends with for a boat ride, and they were awestruck!
Our entire family of 12 individuals rented a houseboat with Voyagaire Lodge and Houseboats on Crane Lake. We spent three nights on the boat and had four fantastic days cruising in Voyageurs National Park. The scenery was fantastic and the weather perfect. Voyagaire staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the boat was in excellent shape. We all loved this trip and are eager to return. We highly recommend it!!
There are now dislikes they do a great job at customer service We left on Saturday on the way home 3 famileys are already planning for 2013
We spent a week on a houseboat in Voyagaire National park. It was the most relaxing vacation I have been on in years! The trip let's you connect with nature, and unplug the phone, TV and the computer. (some boats do come with TVs if you desire). There is a marine radio available to use for communication with the base camp. The trip started with a night at the lodge. The accomodations are very comfortable. The overnight stay gives you priority boarding on the houseboat the morning of your departure. The staff was very helpful, and loaded our week long supplies onto the boat, including 2 kayaks and a canoe. Complete instructions re: the houseboat and it's features are given by friendly staff. There is a wide variety of boats available, and they can suit everyone's needs. The hospitality service can deliver anything you need on a daily basis. We did not think we would use this service, but in the end we did, and it was great. The week is spent "camping" at designated houseboat sites and touring the large waterways. It is not hard to drive the boats, and you soon learn how to navigate the waterways via designated markers. We saw a lot of wildlife, including eagles, loons, beaver, otters and a large snapping turtle. The water was warm enough to swim in. We spent a lot of time on the kayaks, fishing and swimming off the houseboat, including the slide off the back deck. We had a great trip, I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to "get away" and enjoy a slower pace of life for a week.
wonderful trip. Voyagaire owners and employees were great, helping to load our things from the vehicle, explaining how to run the houseboat and use the maps
I've been going to Crane Lake for a few years now and I recommend it to everyone I can! The view of Voyageurs National Park is phenomenal and the restaurants are fun and inviting (esp. Crane Lake Bar & Grill and Trail's End)!
The lake was beautiful and relaxing. There was an abundance of wildlife. The fishing was great. Crane lake connects to several other lakes that you can navigate with a map showing the markers. Would recommend anyone to go to this lake that loves the outdoors.
